The R.I.P. Thread

Peter Sallis has passed away aged 96.

A life well lived, used to always watch the last of the summer wine at my nan's didn't realize he was in the show for 37 years

I also loved Bodger & Badger!

I see one of the Isle Of Man TT riders has died after a crash. I saw some of the highlights the other night including the onboard footage. They must be frigging mental!

Holy sadness Batman, I loved watching this when I was a kid.

R.I.P Adam West.

Helmut Kohl, 87. The key to German reunification.

I should put my brother on here though he was unaware of it.

Fell ill a year ago, had a triple heart bypass 12 years ago. Went in to get them done again as he was struggling with breathing and low oxygen content in his blood.
They found out that the walls of his arteries were too corroded to put stents in. So he was stuck with 1 working heart valve out of 4.
Then he had a car crash. Well.. he had a seizure before he crashed.
So he had his skull opened up to take a big blood clot out.
Following that, the surgeons wanted him to have a blood thickening agent to prevent more bleeding around his brain.
The medical boys said, 'if you thicken his blood, it'll fuck up his 1 working valve in his heart.... so he'll have a heart attack.
but he made it through a whole year, then he fell ill again whilst we were in Tenerife and he was in such a state he couldn't breathe. So they sedated him so he could have oxygen pumped into him.
PH levels in his blood were off the wall. His blood was killing him.
Then the docs said, If he has a heart attack we wont resuscitate him. He's too weak to operate, he wouldn't survive surgery. We don't think he'll survive the next 48 hours.
He made it through 17 of them.
Very sad.

I did the reading at his funeral. He met George Best the day he was signed by United. He was working in Top Rank Bowling alley in Stretford, next to Lancs Cricket Ground.
George had no money at that point having just arrived at United that day. Said to Chris, "How much for a game of bowls?"
Chris said, Are you George Best?"
"Yes I am".
"Do you get free tickets to all the home matches?"
"Yes I do".
"Ok, I'll sort out your bowling if you sort out my tickets..."
And so a long friendship was born.
He left 2 grown up sons, a sad wife and me.
