The R.I.P. Thread

Her previous history of alcohol and/or drug abuse, most people will just assume drug overdose,I didn't know she'd got a brain tumour, and overdose was my first thought tbh. I always thought she was a lonely and sad(unhappy) person and the partying filled a void

No it isn't. It is disrespectful. Nobody has any information one way or another.

If this was a celeb without a history of drug problems that had been suffering cancer for a year there would be no speculation at all (see RIP Richard Hatch - pancreatic cancer unquestioned 2 days ago). Therefore, why is it in any way acceptable to debate or consider other possibilities without a scintilla of evidence or proof?

I don't care if red tops do it. I do care if TWF does.

I really don;t get this need to speculate on why people die (see George Michael earlier in this thread), they've died that's often sad but why they died is pretty much immaterial - they're still dead.

A 45 year old woman tragically lost her life . Unless you are a friend or family member then the thirst to find out how is nothing other than salacious

That's no different to speculating that she died of brain cancer because she'd suffered it previously. Assuming it's because of a recent illness is just as speculative, even if it is more likely.

And mentioning a person's history of something that is known to damage their health when they die is a perfectly obvious and normal thing to do. It doesn't have to be judgmental or disrespectful to mention bad life choices.

Why is it? Are you one of these overly PC crowd who daren't mention anything negative about a person for fear of offending?

Because you are talking pompous balls I suspect. Remarkably closely related to your "life choices" arguments about rape victims sexual history and choice of clothing.

Not jumping to conclusions isn't pompous. It's called keeping an open mind.

Calling someone pompous for daring to mention her drug problems in relation to her death. Now that's pompous.

The phrase "bad life choices" is the pompous part when typed within 24 hours of someone's death.

Speculating is human nature.

She'd been clean for over a decade by all accounts. And it's fairly rare for people to fatally overdose on coke, which was her addiction many, many years ago.

If Will Self were to drop dead tomorrow should we assume it's a heroin overdose? How about Paul McCartney, dropped a bit too much LSD?
