The R.I.P. Thread

Nice bloke. I met him in the early/mid 80s when he was appearing in Hobson's Choice at leeds Grand.

Shame, remember him fondly from Porridge and Citizen Smith.

I think he was also in Citizen Smith.

Sorry just saw Pauls post.

R.I.P.

R.I.P. Peter.

A versatile actor who loved playing the villain. He was good at it too. OK Grouty. Made loads of films as well as TV.

He played Maester Aemon in GOT until he was 92yrs of age and partially blind.

Vaughan reckoned that if he had been better looking he would have starved as an actor.

Great ability to play malevolence with just a look

Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer (and a whole lot more) has passed away aged 69 RIP

After a long battle with cancer apparently :(

John Glenn, first American in space, and also the oldest person to go into space, at age 77 dies at 95

A fine tribute to Greg Lake from Carl Palmer::

It is with great sadness that I must now say goodbye to my friend and fellow band-mate, Greg Lake.

Greg's soaring voice and skill as a musician will be remembered by all who knew his music and recordings made with ELP and King Crimson. I have fond memories of those great years we had in the 1970s and many memorable shows we performed together.

Having lost Keith this year as well, has made this particularly hard for all of us. As Greg sang at the end of Pictures At An Exhibition, "death is life." His music can now live forever in the hearts of all who loved him.

A.A Gill.

I used to buy the Sunday Times every week for about a decade until it became too smug, but A.A's writing was one of the highlights. Good honest writing with a twist of humour

He was a really great writer. His article on the refugees in Lampedusa last year was just brilliant writing.

Edit - nicked off twitter:

Jesus, that's brought a tear to the eye.

Brilliant writer, one of Clarksons mates I believe, kicked out of a restaurant by Gordon Ramsey whom he then described as a first class chef but a second class human being and his coup de grace was this quote about the Welsh ( Paddy look away)
Gill described the Welsh in 1998 as being "loquacious, dissemblers, immoral liars, stunted, bigoted, dark, ugly, pugnacious little trolls". His comments were reported to the Commission for Racial Equality

Dave Maclaren
