The R.I.P. Thread

King is a good writer/ storyteller, but he did (imo) have massive issues with how to end his stories.
I stopped reading him in the 90's, but went back to him after reading his On Writing, which is very interesting in itself as a book.

9 minute highlights from the best rugby union game I ever saw (live on TV back in January 1973) with That Try plus another gem from JPR and great runs from the late David Duckham.

Wow, the greatest rugby match i ever saw in my whole life. So much talent in that baa-baas side. Really enjoyed watching that this morning, may dig out the full match later.

A golden era for rugby during the late 60s, 70s and early 80s.

Brilliant, never tire of that, I fucking loved the 70s, all aspects of it.
Interesting watching the haka, not so intense and not so choreographed.

Such exhilarating running rugby. All the swerving, sidestepping, quick passing and the legends of that time in their pomp too.

Highly evocative memories. Reminds me of the feeling every time you see Ronnie Radford’s goal which was of the same era. All kids in Parkas, the roar of the crowd and sheer jubilation.

Was a 9 minute joy watching that, thank you.

Yeah it's a very different game now and I haven't really followed rugby union since the mid-90s despite living in NZ.

JPR was one of the greats and arguably the game's best ever fullback.
