The R.I.P. Thread

Jan de Rooy 80, started out in motocross, then rallycross, ended up as a rally driver, best known for possibly the most outrageous overtake in rallying history during the 1988 Paris-Dakar race.
Ari Vatenen is flat out at 200+ kmh, in the dunes, Jan comes past him at 220kmh, IN A FUCKING TRUCK!
It’s on YouTube if anyone’s interested.

I was in the Wyatt stand at Egdbaston for the test match about six or seven years ago and just after play started people were funneling in at the end of the over. At the top of the stairs the stewards were checking tickets to direct people to their seats. Ian Lavender was one such arrival and as he presented his ticket to the steward, the guy next to me [in a voice Brian Blessed would have been proud of] booms out "Don't tell him Pike", to much amusement of about 30% of those in the vicinity. The other 70% thought they were sitting near to a nutter.

His seat was actually directly in front of me and a nicer guy, cricket and football mad, you couldn't have wished to meet.
