Just read about that. To qualify, I was 4 in 1989 so that bit did pass me by. Didn't realise he was such am abrasive character tbf, just remembered the phone in on the way back from football training on a Tuesday evening.
 
He made me laugh at the time but I was a kid, actually on reflection it might have been the Jasper Carrot send up of him that made me laugh. Don't remember the racist stuff but suspect my racism radar was set low at that time.

Saw him twice, not my usual thing but when legends play locally you have to go see them just in case it’s the last time they tour, he was amazing
