Not sure he was underrated by us but yep, i wish we had kept him a little while longer.
For whatever reason, like Costa, Nuno quickly formed the view that neither was PL quality. Perhaps partly because Jota adapted to PL standard so quickly and we moved to a front two during the season (and Nuno loved Adama as the wide option when we playing 3-4-3). It's difficult to put my finger on what the issue was with Cav.
 
Overshadowed by Costa in the Championship, certainly, but he ended up being a more consistent performer over a longer period of time, and arguably the better player overall in terms of value.

I remember Costa getting a run early and looking horrific.

I don't remember if he actually was, but I definitely ended up angry with him more often than not.
 
I still want to know if pre and post injury Costa were different players or was it just perception?
 
He was never quite the same after 2016/17.

And while there's no doubt he was at times superb in that season, he also stood out more as we were fucking shite for most of it.
