The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

Absolutely elated at the Mexico result. They really should be making the quarters at minimum with their side.

Just wondering...what is there about Mexican side that got you so excited?

The players?

I wasn't able to watch today but on paper alone that is a very strong squad.

If this was about the names Belgium would have this one in the bag...

Mexico will struggle on matches counter won't be that frequent.

Good to see Germany lose and Brazil held but not convinced they both won't still win their groups! Time for England to come to the party and they will 2 0 with Sterling scoring

Mexico are more than comfortable enough on the ball to control possession.

Mexico looked very good. Certainly the best of the lot so far.

i thought the swiss made brazil look pretty ordinary yesterday. good tactics pressuring the back line a lot and it paid dividends.
probably fortunate the ref was a bit lenient to start with given the number of fouls. a few looked soft but i thought there were a couple of nasty ones in there.
probably a lot more to come from brazil. jesus had a poor game i thought and I didn't think it was a pen on him at first look. swiss equaliser could easily have been disallowed though.

hopefully a decent game tonight. sterling's movement gets him in great positions so hoping he makes it count for us.

Looks like Croatia are booting Kalinic out of their squad as he refused to come on vs Nigeria. Deserved for idiocy if nothing else, I'd have loved to have come on against that rabble, easy meat.

Great article, this should be obligatory reading before posting shite about age:

When I started growing taller, some of the teachers and the parents would be stressing me. I’ll never forget the first time I heard one of the adults say, “Hey, how old are you? What year were you born?”

I’m like, What? Are you serious?

When I was 11 years old, I was playing for the Lièrse youth team, and one of the parents from the other team literally tried to stop me from going on the pitch. He was like, “How old is this kid? Where is his I.D.? Where is he from?”

Very little to report in this game. Sweden on top without looking especially threatening. A mystery how Seb Larsson is still getting a game.

2009 Wolves Forum transfer muppet Marcus Berg isn't really doing it, is he?

He's got into some great positions but that's pretty irrelevant if you can't finish.

Phnar.

I backed him big time after that U21 tournament. Gave up when he was truly terrible at HSV.

Stearman and Mancienne both played in that one, brave new era that it was.
