The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

Delph is seen as one of the outside midfielders it seems. He has the energy for that role to be fair.

Done it for city? Personally Young is the weakest link in the whole squad. After him, despite his club form, Sterling worries me.The other 21 make a squad or team greater than the sum of their parts

Delph has played as an inverted full back all season. Very different role. I’d probably rather have him at wing back jab Young but don’t think Southgate does!

I’ll be extremely pissed off if he goes with Young ahead of Rose.

I’d love to see Rashford & RLC start but suspect he’ll go with Alli due to his relationship on the pitch with Kane. Lingard will likely start too. It’s not what i’d go with but I think Southgate’s preferred back three is Cahill, Stones & Walker. Dier will start ahead of Henderson too (rightly so, IMO - although Delph looked good in the deep midfield role for 20 or so minutes tonight).

For me I'd bring **Ralph on if we are winning for the last half an hour see how he does. I know it was a poor Costa Rica but he looked settled, composed and forward thinking that burst of pace to go between 2 players and start an attack highlighted a definite quality on the ball from him.

Damn new phone and it's Auto Correct DELPH

I always thought Micky Adams had the look of Ralph Wiggum about him.

I thought RLC looked a bit lost at times, passenger, more so as game went on

Lanzini out of the tournament, cruciate injury.

RLC is an absolute Rolls Royce of a footballer. Evidence a minute ago of that - cute little flick around the corner to Danny Welbeck, who allows the ball to bounce off his shin and loses possession.

Would that be a static Rolls Royce, the bloke dont run.

Better bring in Dave Edwards, he'll run

He's a good footballer. The hype (mainly from Jinks, tbf) is way over the top though, he doesn't impact enough on the game in areas that actually matter at the moment.

He's a good option in this squad. Especially for games against teams who sit off against us, he is a player who will take risks. Against sides where we will have less possession, I wouldn't start him yet. He'll improve though, as long as he keeps getting games (ie. leave Chelsea now).

Depends who they appoint of course, but he should get plenty of minutes next year at Chelsea. A year's PL football behind him (albeit injury interrupted), Drinkwater has no future there, Bakayoko is dreadful and Cesc is coming towards the end, Europa League games too.

If I was Chelsea I would sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer while his profile is high, I expect him to fall into obscurity next season.
