The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

It was, I hadn't realised the dip and so thought he should have got a hand to it! Dickhead that I am.

There was another that beat Hahnemann at the North Bank end around the same time that I also went crazy about that turned out Lev Yashin would have been applauding it into the net.

Bowyer for Blues (Big Marcus' debut)

We'd have been better off playing an 11 Vs 11 red versus whites training game than this

Guedes has scored for Portugal.

Costa Rica are utterly dreadful. I know they are saving themselves for next week but even so, this is a very poor showing.

Very similar to the first half of the Nigerian game, Costa Rica haven't really turned up.

Haven't been watching, any one standing out (apart from Rashford)?

Hoping Rose has a good game to keep Young out the team, and Henderson a bad one to keep himself away.

Delph has been busy, can't really judge anything defensively as Costa Rica have had one attack.

Henderson hasn't been bad per se, just criminally unimaginative.

Obviously the left hand side looks more balanced with someone who has a left foot.

Costa Rica are better than they've shown. Probably won't make it as far as they did last time out, but still better than this.

I'd like to see something from Maguire too. I don't understand why that big-headed, clumsy donkey is being chosen or what he can bring to the team. Southgate seems to think he does well bringing the ball forwards so if he can do it - let's see it, these are the types of games where you would expect he should be able to if he can.

Costa Rica look absolutely bobbins.

I’d love to see Rashford-Loftus Cheek-Sterling as the three attacking mids behind Kane when we kick off against Tunisia. It’s an absolute given that Alli will start, though.

On tonight’s evidence there’s zero reason to not give Danny Rose the nod over Ashley Young too. TAA has given Southgate something to think about, but I suspect he’ll play safe & go with Trippier. Vardy has done himself no favours tonight - totally anonymous.

Away from the playing side, lovely to hear/see an atmosphere at an England international. They should play all friendlies around the country.

Ex-Solbakken targets popping up everywhere lately, Bolanos on for Costa Rica.

Maguire has done fine. He will (hopefully) start the first game.

On the whole I am fairly positive about this England squad but I really can't get my head round the Welbeck selection. He looks a world away from the other players to me.

He's total shite. On the other hand RLC has been good and doesn't look out of place at this level.
