I thought Delph and Rose played well, I love Vardy but we need a better back up than him, could have gone either way and I cannot agree with those saying we went out to lose, we just lost , Belgium were better in front of goal. OK the wellbeck sub was weird and the kid at rwb taking all the free kicks was extra weird, but I have seen worse from a full england side and apart from losing a tenner to my Belgian lady, I won't lose any sleep over that.

Rose defending for the goal was horrific. However sloppy inside cover from Delph, should have been available inside if he cuts in. Keeper should have down better, generally poor all night. Punching balls straight at him, you’re an international keeper FFS, I’d back myself to have a decent go at catching them. Rashford - Mourinho knows!

Not for one second do I believe that England wanted to lose that game. To do so would be madness, not just regarding losing momentum, but taking it for granted that we would games against teams in our half of the draw.

I think the reality is that people got carried away because of victories against Tunisia and Panama. I think the Belguim reserve team showed us how much we need to improve if we are to progress further.

There's a difference between wanting to lose and trying to win. Selection apart I don't believe we wanted to lose the game, but once we were behind we didn't try to win and were happy with the result. The Welbeck substitution is all the evidence you need for that.
