As we discussed yesterday, there was a strong argument that if Japan & Switzerland/Sweden is the route you can go down rather than Columbia & Brazil you should try and take it. Once the Group H teams flipped that became significantly less compelling.

Think they’re backing themselves to beat Colombia - thus providing a much easier Quarter Final. Belgium have given us the opportunity to lose this game (which was much talked about beforehand) so here we are.

Only time will tell whether it’s a wise move, but you yourself have said England shouldn’t fear anyone in this tournament and I agree.

Yes. It's a serious risk. Got to beat Colombia and then beat the winner of Sweden v Switzerland to justify this. Otherwise it looks like popping the momentum bubble for no good reason.
