Egypt had the mummified keeper, not Saudi.
Yeah, forgive me for being happy for a team that has had so little global success. Ffs.
I like to see "small" teams have success. I would have been equally happy had it been Egypt getting a taste of that success. I don't understand at all how that is anything close to being worth getting pulled up for. It's basically the equivalent of being a meat eater at a Michelin starred Steakhouse, and you're happy because they've got a dessert made with breast milk.
It just doesn't seem right
The players on that team have next to nothing to do with Saudi politics. Excuse me for being happy they got a taste of success at this stage.Don't fling your cloak at me :icon_lol:
The day I'll be "thrilled" for Saudi Arabia in any context is when they move out of the 14th century. I'm certainly not thrilled that their awful football team has beaten another who are actually manifestly less successful on the global stage.
If you're happy though, don't let me stop you.

You're underestimating how important football is in these countries. Football and politics are linked unfortunately. The players on that team have next to nothing to do with Saudi politics. Excuse me for being happy they got a taste of success at this stage.
The cynicism on this forum about international football is absolutely staggering at times.

I much prefer getting pulled up for it like this tbf.How can I put this...
Its like being in a strip club with the Worlds top models all dancing, and you're chuffed because they've lemon scented urinal cakes...... its just a bit odd like [emoji6]
Maybe so, but I have a hard time believing that any of the players on the pitch for Saudi Arabia have anything like political clout. The Saudi FA, maybe. I'm happy for those players. You're underestimating how important football is in these countries. Football and politics are linked unfortunately.
