The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

This should be a fairly decent game. Actually all three games today should be good to watch.

Also a great ball back to him to put him through on goal.

Don't get it. Blue dots don't seem to relate to anything to me. :confused-smiley-013
It's the labelling that's weird as it runs through the centre of the chart, but...

Essentially each dot represents a country (the one it is in line with on the graph). The further right it is, the farther the team have run; and the higher up it is the faster their average speed.

Not convinced by that VAR call. It was a marginal decision that no-one spotted at the time or even appealed for. Even on seeing the replay it was a bit harsh.

I think VAR started off well, barely noticeable but to me it feels like they've deciding to expand its use just for the sake of it. I can't remember the match but there was a headed goal from a corner, and although there was no contention and the ref was was happy to allow it, it went to VAR for 20 -30 seconds for them to scrutinise whether there was any reason to disallow it. The ref was happy, there were no appeals, it was regular goal, why go the VAR looking for something?

Not been able to follow this game as very busy at work, but from what I've seen of Pione Sisto, he seems like a real talent.

Hope Peru can perform as they did in the last game and really test France. Might not be enough but France are there to be got at

Apparently Peru have more supporters there than any other nation (other than Russia obviously) - something like 40,000. Not a bad effort for a country of 30 million people a bloody long way away.

(Apologies if this fun fact has already been divulged by ITV - I'm watching on mute)

France in front, very fortunate with the block falling to Mbappe.

Still trying to work out how bad England must have really been. When the 10 men of France ripped us to pieces in that friendly last year.

That Argentina line-up is abysmal. The state of that central midfield almost overshadows the mess at the back.
