The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

Silva from Senegal was decent too, as is/was mweene from Zambia. North African keepers always seem pretty decent mostly.

Richer countries (generally speaking) to build better infrastructures to end up with better coaching in North Africa (again, generalizing).

Sterling needs to improve finishing and final ball. Could certainly be much further ahead, but Nigeria were woeful. Hard to judge us against this opposition.

Sterling set up the second didn't he? And put one on a plate for Young too.

Decent finish that by Iwobi. Too easy for the ball to get into Ighalo in the first place. Cahill's side.

4 England player's watching the ball bounce off the post.

I'd question why on earth Walker is having to cover right the way round. Well I would if I didn't know it was because Gary Cahill was busy marking no-one and pointing, as he's done since 2013.

Oh Raheem. That is pathetic.

The Sun will be happy Stirling booked (quite rightly) for diving.

Fucking rubbish Sterling, should be ashamed

I don't mind someone playing for a penalty there, it's part of the game. If you're shit at that kind of malarkey though, don't do it because it will look terrible.

The thing is you can't get away with that with var, the referee would have checked and chalked off the penalty if he'd awarded it and booked him anyway

If you do it properly you win it. Hold for a fraction of a second, nick it over the keeper, hurdle him and "accidentally" leave a foot in so you catch his body or his gloves and over you go. You'll get the pen and it'll never be overturned.

That was just crap, you could see he was going to go for it miles in advance and then he did a laughable job of it.

Good call from the ref there.

"Advantage...oh wait, it's Musa who's got it. Clearly no advantage. Free kick"

Young is playing reasonably well, but I share the same concerns as everyone else with having Young in the starting 11. He’s so bloody predictable. Assume Southgate doesn’t think Rose is quite ready - or maybe he likes having the option of Young in the 11 for his “excellent delivery”.

Even Clive can see it now. It may be the first thing he's called right since about 2001.

Wow, southgate making exactly the right subs.

I was hoping Delph and Young would be our backup options due to their 'versatility'. Shocking that they're actually getting minutes.

I don't know how his mind works, honestly. Delph is our backup CM now, how many club games has he started there in two years? But he'll leave out Wilshere and Lallana.
