The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

The new method at least seems accurate and quite easy to differentiate if someone is actually offside. Don't think we are far away from them being automated.
Skynet takes over the world in 2029..

Being able to convert the offside calls into visualisations like line calls in tennis is good IMO. Not only is Hawkeye-style better than the PL's stupid manual drawing of lines on a screen, it makes it clear exactly which part of the body is actually offside, and it's so, so much quicker.

It's also one of the few major rules in football which IS a binary yes/no, like a ball crossing a line. Automating it is a good idea!

Sums up my thoughts. If there was a way to get that decision relayed to a linesman within a few seconds it would be perfect.

And now they've completely scrapped the unwritten rule of letting the forwards have the benefit of the doubt. Dating in the 80s was cool, rock up at a pub pissed, pull somebody and get laid. Now its Plenty of Fish with people sticking emojis on there faces. Offsides were great as we could slag all and sundre off, now computers get to tell us a players prick is offside if he has a hardon. 2023 get fucked..

I can’t believe that the de facto favorites at this tournament have Otamendi starting at CB.
I don't think either Argentina or Brazil are as good as the European teams.

France, England and Germany are all better imo.

Thing about this Argentina team is Scaloni has got them looking a lot more like they actually have a plan in attack now. Previously was just hope Messi does something. Now they actually work him into really good spaces. Think they are as good as the European teams anyway. Not convinced by Germany and France this year (watch them be brilliant) whereas I think Spain might be decent.

And I'm not convinced by Spain 🤣 all about opinions as somebody has said before.

I've got Germany as dark horses (if you can ever call them that.)

I think Argentina's starting 11 is as good as any though, plus their attacking depth is probably on par with England.

France to go out in the groups, you heard it here first!

That's a fantastic finish!

Making our result/performance look even better.....

???

Really?? I mean it's not hitting the heights of Netherlands v Senegal yet (is it, Alan?) but it's hardly a borefest.
Well I have no benchmark from this tournament to measure it against yet but to me the Argentinians look half arsed, or at least their midfield and forwards do, the Saudis lack any sort of quality to make the enthusiasm advantage tell in anyway.

Underdogs rise up
