The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

Put cameras at the base of each flag. We do it with the pylons in American football and it makes those sorts of calls much clearer.

I agree that ball was just still in.

That angle they keep banging on about on comms isn't at all reliable because it's from inside the pitch, not along the line, which makes the ball look further out than it is.

The long range view from along the line looked like it could have been just still in. Not conclusive so has to give the goal I reckon.

I mean when we say the whole ball, does that mean just the bit that contacts the ground? Another rule I don't quite understand the full intent of.

Looks like it's overhanging the line which I assume as per corners means it's in play.

Don't they have a sensor in the ball? Or is that just to know when it's been kicked?

It's the circumstance of the ball, not the bit that touches the ground, which is why most corners look out of the quadrant

There is a sensor [in the ball] but not sure of the extent of the data the gets reported by it.

Fucks sake I've missed four out of five goals flicking between channels

If Costa Rica get another Spain and Germany are both out. Scenes...
