The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

Good goal for KSA. Brutal for México.

At least Poland are progressing with doing something slightly better than Mexico.
Mexico goal still puts them through

Saudi’s have turned to the kick & fall tactic that the lesser nation’s seem to adopt quite often
Yep, certainly never seen any top side do that.

All that Saudi goal did was eat up some time a 3rd Mexican goal would have still put them through on GS

Poland players having the temerity to celebrate getting though after that performance.

First time they've advanced since the 80s, isn't it? A little celebration is warranted, IMV.

I'm sure it'll be worth it when France carve them apart on Sunday, whilst they make zero effort to get out of their own half.

Poland celebrating like Zelkjo Kalazj after the 96 play off final

I'm sure we're all delighted we get to see more of that swashbuckling, flair-filled Poland side...

Going back to that penalty call earlier it’s utterly shambolic.
Almost as FIFA have advised officials to keep Messi in the tournament as long as possible.
I’d doubt very much that the same decision would go in Polands favour.

Sweepstake for when Wolves tweet about Raul needing an operation.

I'm going to go Tuesday.

Bit later he'll get about 10 days off (I know), so I'll go the weekend after this

Must be nice to have forgotten what it's like for getting out of the group to not be a foregone conclusion.

As the 'rama and Fun Boy 3 said, it ain't what you do it's the way that you do it. They had no control on what Mexico did and just gambled

Equally, had they opened up and conceded a third, that would have been stupid management.

People have all kinds of opinions over the right and/or wrong ways to play, but at the end of the day it's the points that matter, not a philosophical desire to play attacking football.

If they are as bad as people think, they will rightfully get thumped soon enough, and then they'll be out. Problem solved.

I think if its ok for me to criticise England for making very little attempt (from the first whistle) to beat USA last week (and plenty of people having a go at Wales for the same yesterday) then Poland (and an abject Denmark) should get the same treatment for making the same decisions today against infinitely beatable opponents.
