The Official Euro 2016 Megathread

No such thing as "accidental hand ball" now, it's all about "unnatural hand position"

Which is fair enough, because bar a player punching the ball off the line in desperation, next to no handballs are really "deliberate" in the true sense of the word. No-one jumps for a cross and thinks "I'll smash this away like a volleyball player".

Can we stop this "arms for leverage bull shit". in the case of elbows maybe. But for handball, your hands should never be above your head

Hey guys I'm just educating you all as to what a referee has to look for with the new interpretation of the Laws of the Game

Is that even new? Pretty sure it's been that way for years.

Imagine the poor referee on a Sunday morning game trying to explain that to the players...

Been there Frank... 22 hungover meatheads questioning every decision and when they commit a foul it's YOUR fault :icon_lol:

And France make it 2-0

What an incredibly un-German like goal to concede. Great from Pogba

Agreed, it's no justification on a handball.

Well excuse me for being a twat. It's obvious he was trying to pull himself up on the French player because he was so far behind play. I don't remember calling any of your opinions "bullshit" in the past, I'll leave myself a sticky note.

So he was impeding the French player and therefore committing a different punishable offence? :smarmy:

Germany throwing everything at it now, but possibly too little too late, they have been poor tonight by their usual standards.

Just lacking a real goal threat that's all and then punished when trying to push on and made a couple of mistakes. Best player on the pitch has scored twice though and he should take them to the title now.

To be fair it's come up earlier in the tournament (not from your good self or making the same point you did), can't remember who it was but they said it wasn't handball by Skrtel against Germany (I think) because you "need to jump with your arms", you don't need to jump as if you're Scotty Pippen circa 1993 either. People conflating one point with another.

Ultimately Löw paying for his own negligence by taking one striker who he wasn't even sure about. No-one would claim Kruse or Volland (for example) are world beaters but they're better than nothing. Similar scenario with Hodgson and Barkley, he's taken Schürrle and Podolski when there are very few circumstances where they're ever going to play serious minutes.

Reall gap in quality between both semifinals.

Exactly, been relying on Mueller who hasn't turned up this tournament. He's got into the positions on occasionally but he shooting is a mile off what he's capable of. Podolski was a ridiculous nomination.

I think we can all agree that whether the penalty call was correct or not it has had a massive effect on the outcome of this match. Germany were in complete control until that moment, yuo would fancy the French against Portugal but they seem to have the luck on their side ever since they scraped through the group stage.
