The Official Euro 2016 Megathread

I heard a rumour that Lallana is injured so I did think it might mean a recall for Sterling.

I'm glad Roy is showing faith in him as he needs a confidence boost but if he performs poorly again everyone will be out to get him. Hopefully his 'Pep talk' from Guardiola helps...

I'd also recall Kane for tonight as I don't expect much different from Iceland compared to the other teams we've faced.

Rooney's been talking him up this week too. Feel like we might be better off with Sturridge Kane and Vardy up front, Iceland will be sitting back surely

If Sturridge is going to play then I'd only play him as the main striker. i don't want to see any of his fancy flicks or his shots fly into the crowd from ridiculous positions.

My team would be.

----------------------------Hart-------------------------------

Walker----------Cahill-------Smalling--------------Bertrand

-------------Wilshere------Dier-------Ali----------------------

Lallana-------------------Kane-----------------------Rooney

as they were talking sterling up last couple days i've presumed he's in?

Na, get the early goal and when Iceland start chasing the game put Vardy on. Game over.

If Lallana is injured then Sterling will be the replacement - needs to start performing if he is though

Won't be watching this though as have been picked for my first senior Dorset League bowls match & frankly my (very minor) sporting achievements are more important to me than Englands

I know that I'm not a fan of McNumpty but his latest drivel includes the following:-

Hodgson was in combative mood himself, hitting back at suggestions he had not done his homework on Iceland by deciding to watch Hungary and Portugal's 3-3 draw at the team hotel.

He dismissed any thought he is treating Iceland lightly as "laughable" and said: "We sent five people to Paris to watch Iceland play Austria, including Gary Neville and Dave Watson, plus our video scout Andy Scoulding, plus a guy to film it and another guy who has been scouting games for us."

So by watching a game in which both teams could have been our next opponent he gets slated!

Hodgson has received the public backing of his players during one of his most turbulent weeks since he succeeded Fabio Capello in May 2012. If there are any cracks in the England camp they have been well disguised.

So if we are to compare the last two major tournaments, being knocked out of the World Cup without winning a game is not quite as bad as playing well in all three group games, being unbeaten and with an excellent chance of getting to the quarter finals?

McNumpty really winds me up.

Turbulent? FFS. I really don't think Hodgson has done much wrong. If our strikers put their chances away - like they've been doing all season for their clubs - we win the group with maximum points and everyone is happy. Personally, I'm more than happy with the squad as well as the performances. We deserved to win all 3 games and I can't blame Hodgson for the players not sticking the ball in the net after creating numerous good opportunities.

Too many sections of the media just can't wait for the team to fail. Indeed - wankers like McNumpty pre-empt that failure by making things sound far worse than they actually are.

I hope we win comfortably tonight and silence some of those critics - though even if we do, we'll be told it was only meeting the minimum requirement.

In the BBC article saying that Sterling is set to play there is no mention of the rumour that Lallana might be injured. It reads as though he is being brought back in from the cold at Lallana's expense.

how to get behind the team! as ever.

I'd never noticed how tiny Giaccherini is until now! He looks like a child out there compared to the rest.

Brilliant save, nothing more Pellè could have done.

I don't like Spain's kit. Looks like they've been shot in the shoulder then been sick down themselves.
