The NFL Thread

Final minute. Down by 7. 4th down from the 14 yard line. Chased backwards 25 yards, then Williams throws it blind, off his back foot, to an open receiver in the end zone.
An impossible play.
Then he throws an interception in OT.
And the Rams win.

Strange game management by both Williams and Allen in overtime this weekend. Trying to force things when they only needed a Field Goal to win

I agree that we do look to want too much instead of getting close and taking the FG and we can definitely trust Cairo Santos from anything under 50yds.

However that was some first season under Ben Johnson and I'm really looking forward to year 2. Williams has come on so much this season and I hope that they can iron out the need for the big play when a steady play will do.

We picked really well in the draft and have a core of good rookies in the team who will only get better. Loveland, Monangai and Burden will really come on following this season and there's lots to be positive about. However, we can't keep relying on getting away with being so far in the red in the 4th Qtr, it's not sustainable (but it was a lot of fun!)

No more standing up for the people of Buffalo.

Not for a moment going to question Dire's judgement on this one, but this year I don't think anyone could have took them much further with the lack of talent on offense. They need to acquire or draft a number 1 receiver.

Your point about the lack of offensive talent is fair. However, McDermott is a defensive coach whose defenses have constantly played small in big moments.

I don't question his ability to develop a really good culture around a team, and he will without a doubt drag another franchise into respectability. But with Josh Allen as QB there really isn't an excuse for failing to make the Superbowl at least once in the last 6 seasons, especially with how well Allen has played in the playoffs (except the last game).

The fact that Sam Darnold, Drake Maye or Jarrett Stidham are likely to get there before Allen is a catastrophic failure and an indictment of his coaching.

There's also an element of wrong conference at the wrong time. They'd have faced the Chiefs in at least one of those Super Bowls if they were in the NFC. Better than the '24 49ers for example, but as with Baltimore it does feel like change is needed to get over the hump and he's a hypocrite for his use of the tush push after saying it's a dangerous play
