The NFL Thread

I think AJ knows he’s on the other side of his prime. Whatever Philadelphia’s window is overall, his personal one is closing. Frankly, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one; Sirianni seems like a complete fraud to me. The Trent Dilfer of SB winning coaches (harsh on Trent maybe).

Gotta be Sirianni based on the criticism from when they were terrible two years back, and the opinion that he's been constantly bailed out by his coordinators rather than his ability as HC.

Although saying that there's been plenty of criticism aimed at Patullo as OC which might save him. Probably better getting rid of both?
I think you’re right, there’s just this weird animosity towards Jalen that gives me a smidge of pause. I guess that wouldn’t technically be a firing but you get what I mean

But not the most important stat.

I give you hard time about him; in my heart I think he should be remembered as another Marino if he never wins a Super Bowl. Problem is, each year it gets harder to believe he'll ever do that. Not necessarily because of him, just because he hasn't won one playing damn near perfect hero ball the last couple of seasons.

It definitely feels shitty, but the fact is that Trent Dilfer is more accomplished than Allen, no matter what the stats say about them as individuals. The Lombardi is the measuring stick when you start getting into GOAT talk. Fairly or not, QBs always bear the praise or blame.

I'll say this: I'm not sure there's another currently starting QB that is properly ahead of Allen just now. Drake Maye is probably the only other guy I'd consider, and it's way, way too soon to be putting those two in the same conversation.
That my friend is absolute highest of the highest order.

Maye looked to be in complete control - totally unexpected turnover.
But there is little to suggest the Chargers will do much with the ball.
Every Herbert pass attempt seems to be overthrown or underthrown. They cannot win unless his accuracy improves.

It'll be Patullo, he shouldn't have got the job in the first place and the management shouldn't have allowed it, irrespective of the SB win. He's running Sirianni's scheme, if there is one, but he has no feel for the flow of the game, how many times in the broadcast did Brady say they need to go up tempo? They've gone 6 games this season without a TD in the second half for what is the most expensive offense in the NFL as he/they can't react to what the defense does to adjust.Saquon has been stopped for negative yardage more than any other player this season, that's because they know what's coming, not just a running play, but the type of run. Then the defense starts to give up points because they're always on the field and are gassed. Some games they've hung on and won like that Bills, Packers, Lions, others they've given up leads because of it Broncos, Cowboys. The season was always going to end this way, just a question of when, fwiw I thought it'd be next week given the SF injuries.

He can't scheme players open, 3 match defining efforts with 11 yards needed, 3 passing plays and nobody open on any of them, compare that to what Shanahan was doing with much less.

They've only been able to retain that offense because the drafting has been so good on the defense, but over the next year or 2 all those rookie contracts are going to become due. This is the most complete roster in the NFL and they've blown it. The 49ers deserved their victory, but to lose with the talent advantage they had on the field is malpractice.

They'll go over Sirianni's head again like they did with Moore and Fangio and he'll go back to being the ra ra guy as he was last year. By and large the players seem to like him, so although he's overpaid for what he does, he's not in trouble this year. They'll bring in one of the recent Head Coach firings as OC I'd imagine, Daboll would be my guess, I think they'd rather have Stefanski, but he'll get another HC gig I'd have thought, I'd prefer McDaniel, although Philly is probably too cold for him. The only way he’s in trouble is if he refuses, then he's go the same was as Pederson did in similar circumstances.

I think he's gone, there comes a point as the Vikings and Bills did with Diggs where it all becomes too much. Thay said, what he's been saying all season was bang on, you can't play offense like that and go deep in the post season. Equally, if you give it like he has you can't drop 3 balls in the biggest game of the season (2, plus the one he didn't get his hands on).

I think he'll go, be number 1 receiver in a pass happy offense, get 1200yds plus and be happier despite missing the play offs with Philly eating the $20m dead cap and getting a high 2 from someone like Cleveland.

@Dennisons Wrong Foot I so badly wish I could catch this but unfortunately the change in employment status has meant a lot of cuts. ESPN being one victim ($29.99/month is just too fucking insulting ya know).

Oh wait my ABC affiliate has it

I for sure only saw ESPN earlier but hey I won’t question

Hell fuckin’ yeah Will

Gotta get you an OTA antenna! They’re pretty cheap and get you your local stations for free. I’d go slightly mad without mine. 😅

Ferocious defence, but not a great 1st half from Stroud. 2 fumbled snaps (both recovered), 2 more fumbles lost, missing open receivers.
The defence should win this, but turnovers can cost us the game.

Samsung tv has internal antenna that picks up all the local terrestrial stations except ABC. Eventually we will do something about it (maybe).
