The NFL Thread

@Dennisons Wrong Foot

I knew y’all’s defense in Houston was good but here’s a stat I didn’t believe at first: the Texans have more interceptions (11) this season than they do TDs allowed (10).

That’s absolutely bananas.
I heard that stat too, but I haven't confirmed it and don't believe it. That would mean less than one TD per game.

Ah, crucial distinction; 10 passing TDs. Woopsie.

Given up 19 total.

@Alan
do you have any playoff predictions?
I don't know if I'm willing to put my name on anything concrete; lots of inconsistency this year.

As I see it, currently, there are only 3 teams that look "complete" right now: Los Angeles (Rams), New England, and Seattle. IMO the gap between them and the rest isn't massive, but notable at least.

The next tier down, which I would define as "really good but with an obvious exploitable weakness", is packed like sardines in a tin can. Green Bay, Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago, Buffalo, Houston, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. You could probably lump some others in there, too, like Jacksonville. The AFC South might end up taking 3 teams into the playoffs; that will largely depend on Buffalo and if Josh Allen can stop playing like Jameis Winston (who I love, tbf).

At gunpoint, I'd call the championship games as:

AFC: New England v. Denver
NFC: Los Angeles v. Detroit

I'd want to see Detroit v. Denver be the resulting Super Bowl matchup, but this season has been crackers, so who knows?

The blonde signing the national anthem while dressed as a cheerleader at the Cowboys is the most American thing ever.

That was a real statement win, I can’t believe that was my Bears!

Just need to keep it together for the rest of the season 🐻⬇️

So glad I’ve got DaBears to watch this year. Never thought I’d be saying that! 🤣

Lucky (and controversial) - but a crucial win.
Pass interference (it wasnt) called instead of delay of game (it was). TD scored then PAT called good when it missed.

Is there a single person anywhere who saw that score coming?
Not in the way it happened, certainly!

The Panthers still lack some key pieces so it’s pretty impressive that they tend to be hard to beat, even when they do lose. That hasn’t been true of Carolina in years.
