The NFL Thread

Halfway through the 3rd quarter, Stroud and Goff have thrown SEVEN picks between them, but it is a great game.

Horrendous offside jump gifts the Steelers the game.
Just seen the spot on the Ertz catch on the previous drive. I don't want to to go full Dire and it benefitted my side, but when they review it and still come up with the wrong decision then you have to wonder.

Probably given the Eagles the divisional title, but to be honest I was expecting to come second at best, even with the Cowboys and Giants being execrable.

Washington have a much easier schedule. Philly have them twice, Baltimore, Rams away and Steelers. The Philly games are the only ones Washington has which they won't be heavy favourites for with Prescott done for the season. Split the series and they've still got a good chance to win the division imo.

Shame it's a Thursday night after a hard game against the Steelers/arriving back in the early hours of Monday morning after a long flight which will reduce the quality.

Micah Parsons has essentially fired Mike McCarthy by saying he feels bad for "the guys who put in more work than Mike McCarthy ever did".

I don't think I've ever heard a player go at their HC like that.

I knew Saquon was fast but holy fuck

Some badly run teams are going to pay over the odds for average free agent RBs this off season because of his and Henry's success.

To be fair there are a fair few running backs who've been shafted by teams reluctance to pay them fair whack the last few years. It's the sole reason Barclay is playing for the Eagles and not still at the Bears really. He's practically a shoe in for offensive player of the year at the moment and McCaffrey won it last year.

I think it's a bit more complicated than that. If he were still at the Giants they'd be paying $17m a year and still end up with a losing season, from a purely business perspective they were right to let him go, not from a fan or entertainment one though. What makes him so good in Philly is the Oline, the receivers and a QB teams are worried will run. It will be him or Henry who wins offensive player of the year, it should be Barkley though as he's more of a passing game threat.

Both Baltimore and Philly are paying for a player to potentially take them over the top. If you've not get the rest then you are paying a lot of money for a player that won't be the difference maker with a limited shelf like. Saquan was 27 at the start of the season, but even the Eagles contract assumes next year is his last as opposed to a lineman or QB where it's reasonable to assume you'll get decent play until their mid 30s, so can pay with a view on the longer term

Bills v Chiefs game is another good one. Can't help but feel that Mahomes is going to find a way to win it though.

The NFC West is a right mess for the Niners, allowing Geno to run for two 10 yard plus plays to win the game (with less than a minute left).

Three teams at 500 leaving the Cardinals winning the division.

Josh Allen just steamrolls his way in to the end zone to likely end the Chiefs unbeaten run.

Joe Burrow is having an MVP style season, he won't win it because he has been totally let down by their defensive roster construction. More passing yards, completions, first downs and TDs than anyone else and they are 4-7. I appreciate an element of that is because they don't have a rushing game and have to pass all the time because they never have the game in hand, but they are wasting him.

Stats are like bikinis, they show some things but not everything. With the game on the line and you need your QB to do something special would you choose Burrow over Mahomes or Allen? I don't think I would. He has the best WR tandem in the league, he's going to put up huge numbers, especially when they have to throw a LOT to stay in games because their defense is bad this year.

I wouldn't chose anyone over Mahomes in a clutch moment. Higgins has missed 5 games, so it's been Chase and jags for around half the season with an OLine that gets him hit a lot game after game. I think he and Allen are 2a and 2b in terms of best QBs in the league

Speaking of top QB.

The Giants are going full tank and are benching Daniel Jones in favour of Tommy DeVito.
