The NFL Thread

It ought to be his last year. There are plenty of better QBs available and IMHO they're throwing away the season by sticking with him now.

Do you reckon this year is the last chance for EJ Manuel or will he get another season regardless?

He has to prove himself this year, no question. I think it is seriously overhyped about his supposedly 'awful' rookie season: to me he played like almost every rookie QB not named Luck or Griffin. He threw more TDs than Ints and had 2 bad games out of 10, 2 very good games out of 10 and the rest were typical average rookie games.

See, this is what I mean about his overhyped awfulness. This is utter rubbish.

Another win for the Ravens 37 - 30 at the Cowboy's, the defence is looking a little shaky at the moment but Flaaco with a touch down and a 113 yard turn over is a good work out in preseason.

I don't think he's outright awful but unless his passing accuracy improves dramatically I don't see him as much more than a strong-armed T Jax.

Word from camp is that he has improved significantly, and that his work ethic and attitude are second to none. I think he will be a QB that develops steadily and solidly but not spectacularly. Sadly, the NFL of today is a show me now league and NFL fans, especially Bills fans, are not renowned for great patience.

And he is waaaay better than T Jax, it isn't even debatable. I believe he has the potential to be a Daunte Culpepper type of QB- very good but not in the group of 6-8 elite QBs (which comprises Manning, Brady, Rogers, Brees, Ryan, Luck, Rothlisberger IMO). Whether he fulfils that potential is another matter.

I disagree but I admire your optimism. We clearly see different things on EJ but I wish him every success (except against the Saints)!

Seahawks start the season with a bang. Man that defense is scary good.

They were fantastic last night. So many different attacking play options with the players they have too. The Packers defence didn't know if it was coming or going. That fake handoff for the TD in the 2nd quarter was a thing of beauty.

Forgot to mention, these turned up last week. Can't wait!

I got tickets for the lions falcons game yesterday, will be my first game. :)

We will have to meet for a pint guys....As I mentioned somewhere else I've got tickets for all three games and because the middle one is a 1-30 ko my brother and I are coming down early on the Saturday and we're gonna go to the AFC Wimbledon vs Tranmere game

Jealous of you lot. Glad you're enjoying the handegg!

Still waiting on my Falcons/Lions tickets. Getting excited for Sunday, even though I expect nothing less than the usual letdown of a season from Buffalo. Still paid for Gamepass for the season, stream it to my tablet which I'll hook up to my lovely big TV- every Bills game streamed live into my living room. Lovely.

You should be alright mate Kevin Cadle reckons you're dark horses for the Super Bowl. ::drink2:

Great 34-6 win for Vikings, we didn't manage a single win on the road last season.

Superb week for Toon with the Bills getting a great win in Chicago and the Patriots losing, :)

Good win for the Steelers with a 41yd FG in overtime to win it. Especially since they almost threw it away.
