The NFL Thread

No QB is surviving behind Jacksonville's O line for an entire season. Granted, they could bulk up there via the draft.

Trading Watson to the Jags (a division rival) would be madness - so a typical Texans move.

Rumours still floating around include 49ers, Panthers, Dolphins, Jets.

Jags are signing Lawrence so there isn't a vacancy there. Philly could afford him financially as the dead cap hit for Wentz only applies to the upcoming season and he's then off the books and Watson's salary increase doesn't kick in until 2022, so the timings marry. They can't afford him because of the assets rather than the financial cost.

I think he'll go to the Panthers personally

Watson is like Raul - he is viewed as being the answer to every problem, and a player who never has a bad game - when that is clearly not the case. But there would be something wrong if at least two dozen teams had not tried to find out what it would cost to get him, and whether they could afford it. The Texans lost several games last season by a touchdown or less and could easily have finished 8-8 or better. Any team that sees itself as a QB away from a deep playoff run should actively try to trade for him - and that includes the Eagles IF they believe in the core of their current squad.

If they believe in that core then they are wrong.
Their best players are Slay, Kelce, Johnson, Cox, Graham, Brookes and Ertz. Every single one is over 30 and the latter will be cut/traded any day soon. They need the WR who is on the board at 6 to give Hurts someone to target and replenish the rest of the roster with new talent. Watson would be great, but no point having a top QB with nothing around him and limited chance to build that when you've given up your best draft capital for the next 3 years to get him. It also doesn't make sense for him

Eagles trade for Watson, draft JaMarr Chase or Devonta Smith at 6. That still leaves quite a bit of work. And it assumes that the 6 pick isn't something they'd have to give up for Watson in the first place.

The 6 would go in the deal, probably this years 2 and 2022 and 23 firsts as a minimum, probably a player or 2 aswell, Hurts and Sanders as complete guesses. Texans would insist on it. It's what would make an Eagles trade attractive to them. With the Jets and Dolphins supposedly going cold (if true) it's the highest pick out there in the short term.

Puts them in a strong position trade wise too as now have options if he decides to sit out, so can play long ball if they wish.

Bengals and Ravens were also interested. There is an element of risk after injuries, but he can be a quality WR - if Jones can throw it straight!

Number of lawsuits filed against Watson is up to 12.

Kyle Fuller gone to the Broncos... Fucking Hell Chicago, give me SOME good news

He's already lived rent free in the head of one Eagles QB, so may as well do so again. Hey Jalen we're going to make you our starting QB this year, but here's the guy with a fucking statue outside the stadium to back you up
