The NFL Thread

Bear, would probably be better when we getting going properly to start a new thread in the predictions part of the forum to save this one getting clogged up
Good idea.

There's no draft. You pick a team to a budget every week.

and it's bye week for the teams not listed

Apparently the earlier information I gave about Christian Wade isn't quite right. He can get straight onto the 53 man active roster to begin the season. However, if he goes onto the practice squad he can't be brought up to the active roster at any time during the season and no other teams can claim from the Bills practice squad, essentially guaranteeing him a year to learn with the Bills. I can't see a way he makes the 53 man roster, not with Shady McCoy, Frank Gore and their 3rd round draft pick virtually guaranteed roster spots.

Don't the Bills keep 4 on their roster, I know the Eagles do? With Shady and Gore being ancient even moreso as running backs I'd be surprised if they don't. Anyway fancy a go in Bears NFL game?

They might well keep 4, though I think they are one of the few remaining teams that use a FB. I guess it will come down to where they want to use their roster space.

With my Fantasy Football and Super 6 games to keep track of, I don't think I could cope with another one!

Andrew Luck has had to retire, which is a real shame. Top 5 QB when fit and not having a Oline that wanted to get him killed

Gutted about this, always really enjoyed watching him. Not sure how much his penchant for not exactly protecting himself on the field contributed to any of his injury problems but it was part of his appeal.

McCoy cut by Buffalo, signed almost immediately by the Chiefs. Bit of a shocker. Wade also cut, but will be on their practice squad I'm sure.

I'm not a huge NFL fan, but have a spare weekend in the US middle of October - will I be able to just grab a ticket and watch a match?

I think it depends where you are. Some will be sold out every game, some (LA Raiders? Or have they moved now?) will be half empty.

I'm in Houston one week and LA the next. Was thinking of traveling over the weekend, but could time that so I could catch a game. Worth going to LA Raiders then?

It appears the Raiders have one more year in Oakland. The locals have got the hump that they are moving to Vegas next season and aren't turning up, so if they have a home game when you are there you might be in luck.

The Raiders play in Oakland. The Rams and Chargers both play in LA, so one or the other should be at home. Tickets for the Chargers will be easy to pick up, as they don't really have a fan base after leaving San Diego. Rams a little more difficult, but a good chance you'll get something depending on who they are playing

Where will you be?
Houston first week, though work is finished by Thursday and then LA the week after, but don't need to be there until Tuesday. So I was thinking of going pretty much anywhere interesting between.
