The NFL Thread

It's always been easy to dislike the "Cheatriots". The love in between Trump, Brady, Belichick and Kraft makes it even easier.

Wooo second in the draft kings with one to play on tuesday

Another godawful week for me. It seems everyone I pick does absolutely nothing at the minute.

I didn’t pick any Ravens players this week was the key for me

Stopped off at O'Neils for a beer before the train and they had red zone on. Right on half time bears block a field goal from about the 20, recover the ball and the guy runs the length of the field but instead of going into the end zone he stops...one yard from the line... he just stands will the prick and a defender gets back and knocks the ball out of his hand and out the back of the end zone. Seriously I'd pull him out of the game and he'd never play for me again the prick

For those who haven't see this wonderful play then feast your eyes on this and the mindboggling Umpires call...

Umpires call is right isn't it?

The utter bellend should've ran his touchdown in rather than slow down.

Attacking team (they were the offence taking a field goal) knocks the ball out of the End Zone then it is a touchback. I'm glad he made that call as we got 3 points from the field goal instead of 2 for the TB and so were able to win but seriously, Marcus Cooper needs a bloody slap

The ruling was that when the Bears recovered the ball they became the attacking team. So when the kicker slaps it out of bounds following the fumble he was a defender so no touch back.

Yeah I know what the call was that the referee squad made, doesn't make it right does it? 6 seconds left, FG blocked, defender picks up the ball, runs most of the length of the pitch then has a brainfart and stops. Offensive line man and kicker get back to him and force the fumble and the ball is intentionally knocked out of the end zone. So at the time of the fumble time had expired and the ball went dead by intentional foul means. Can they really just say "we're going to add an indefinite length of time back onto the clock and have another play? Just seemed strange to me and I'm STILL pissed off with Cooper, could've cost us the game and there would have been no need for overtime if he'd just kept running

Redzone for the early games yesterday was a joy to watch. Bears winning in OT, Patriots scoring a TD with the last play of the game, Lions having a last play TD given then ruled as grounded before the endzone and the Eagles rookie in his 2ND game kicking a 61yd field goal the longest ever at the stadium to win in the last second.

Correct, and the half can't finish on a defensive penalty.

For me they were still the Offence though so touchback although I'm glad they made the call they did or we'd have lost

I'm confused with what your saying? If you're the offence And you go into your own end zone it's a safety. You give up 2 points and punt the ball back.

However they, were the defence as possession had changed. Now I don't know the rules on the ball going out the end zone. If it's fumbled and goes out of bounds then the team who was last in possession get the ball at the point it went OB. As the ball went out the end zone by "foul means" surely they have to put it back at the one yard line

Yes you're right, and that's what they did. It was fumbled at the one yard line, then batted out of bounds deliberately - which is a foul, so the penalty was to move the ball half the distance to the goal line (because there was less than the penalty available) and Chicago gets the ball there (but the Bears being the Bears they effed that up as well by false starting so had to kick a field goal). If the Bears had have fumbled the ball out of the endzone the half would have been over but because the game or half can't end on a defensive penalty you get one more - untimed - play. Hope that made sense.

Say an offence is set the goal line trying to force it in for a TD (let's say 1st and goal), but as he tries to break through (he didn't break the plane) he fumbles it and it goes out the end zone. Is it then 2nd and goal from one yard line, a turnover, or Something else?

Cheers Bear.

Just a thought but would it be best to do ranking points per week rather than cumulative points? That way you can have a few stinkers and still be in with a chance of doing well.

Feel free to tell me to keep my thoughts to myself as it's your league.

I agree with this as I came 2nd last week but it wasn't a very high scoring week ;)
