The Music Thread Strikes Back

Enjoying Yusuf/Cat Stevens, great songs, nice and chilled, quite charming really.

Manics
The Lathums
Chvrches
Rick Astley (both solo and doing The Smiths with The Blossoms)
Lightning Seeds
Texas
Editors

Have all been great, I'll catch Sophie Ellis-Bextor's set tomorrow.

I’ve recorded Elton to watch tomorrow.

I finished watching Guns N Roses tonight. They were better than I expected. It’s a shame Axl’s voice isn’t quite there any more as the rest of the band sounded awesome. I’d have loved to have seen them in their prime.

I'm a hoary old rocker and not much of an Elton fan, however you have admire the body of work.
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road would feature in my top 5 albums of all time, all good or great songs, lots of different styles, Elton (and Taupin) at his peak.

I’m an old cynic and I know there’s loads of different areas as my lads have been a few years back but every time I watch Glastonbury the main stage in recent years the crowd seem to have become very middle England.

Rocket man went on longer than the finale to lord of the rings but that aside from that it was an excellent set.

Whoever was responsible for the QOTSA mix last night should take a fucking bow. Absolutely incredible - phenomenal live band captured absolutely perfectly.
Gunna watch that later, good ro know.

I saw them in Cardiff on Friday and it was brilliant - all too often the sound quality live is absolute shite, particularly with open air gigs, but it was just about perfect.
Agree about open air gigs. I saw Blur at Malahide castle on Sat and the sound was poor, they opened with a new one and it was a total sludgefest. Graham's guitar mix was awful for the majority of the gig.

So what the hell has been happening in this thread recently? Some massive festival that also is getting livecast in the UK?

Cool. Free broadcast or PPV?

neither, as it is on the bbc
I think there's something about the BBC I don't understand, then, as I would have called that a free broadcast?

Referencing tax funding?

It is a free broadcast essentially, if you ignore all the discussions about license fee.
