The Music Thread Strikes Back

Prodigy doing a UK tour in November. Can't do Birmingham as I'm doing Black Grape same night so I'm doing Manchester, just booked me a hotel next to Old Trafford..
Mate of mine works for Heineken and got 4 free tickets for Prodigy and Kraftwerk gigs happening later this month, only problem is they are both on the same night so we are currently discussing which one to go to.
I think the Prodigy would be the better gig but the crowd and venue (Trinity college) would be better for Kraftwerk.

Just bought tickets to see Metallica for this September in Phoenix! Works out as will be out that way for a family thing anyway. Will be my 14th time seeing them in concert:cool:

That’s not far off how many times I have seen them. Might be waiting a while for them to pitch up in Brisbane though.

Yeah every time they are relatively close, I like to go see them. Prefer their music in the late 90's versus now, but still pretty good. Looking at their tour dates till the end of next year yeah no Australia, but are headed to Germany and Finland it looks like lol.

Besides them, two other favorite bands are Avenged Sevenfold and Sabaton.

First night out as a couple without baby for nearly five months this Saturday...grandparents babysitting and we're driving down to see Depeche Mode at Twickenham
I saw them last night in Malahide Castle. Brilliant gig, they played for almost 2.5hrs.
Nice set too, some new ones that sound better live, some classics and then two solo songs from Martin in the middle to give everyone a chance to hit the bar or go for a piss.

Poor bloke is probably thinking "Right, time for me to shine here, show them all I can do this without the band....hold on, where the fuck is everyone going. Fuckers"

Thats what I said to my mate as we walked to the bar. Every night he must watch 20,000 people streaming towards the toilets as soon as he starts!

Still waiting for the new James album - my dad came over yesterday and didn't bring it with him (delivered there, as too often there is no one in our house).
A kind person made me aware of the new Sigur Ros album!
Another mate is banging on about the new ben folds album.
First return to the civic tomorrow night, for which I am excited.

Went to see The Lathums with Kenny and our better halves last night at The Wulfrun. Superb stuff and support act Overpass were excellent too.

Venue seemed great, plenty of room, good sound and wasn't the sweatbox that it was in the 90s. Bar looked busy but I didn't bother getting a drink once we were in. But alternative reviews of the Civic next door for Sparks - some major fuck up in fitting the seats so some rows have double leg room and others have none. How do you even do that or not notice?!

Haven't been into the revamped wulfrun yet, but did the Civic for the James gig on tuesday.
The venue is superb. It isn't immediately obvious where the money has gone, but thankfully the soul of the place is good.
Really impressed with the quality and availability of toilets now.
Did find it a bit frustrating in the civic that you are repeatedly being asked to show your ticket. I guess this is to stop people buying seats but then standing.
Gig looked sold out and properly packed downstairs.
Views from the seats are amazing.
Rather suspect that people need to get used to lighting the room properly, and also getting the sound levels right, as it wasn't spot on.

James, as always were fab. Loved hearing What For live for the first time in decades. Very different gig to the recent orchestral show at symphony hall, which was epic and mind blowing.

Started listening to Be Opened By The Wonderful yesterday, as have only just taken delivery of it. Only 6 tracks in so far, but it sounds really good.

27 years come December since I first saw them live. Man, I'm old.
