I'll add my voice to the christ I feel old since Now That's has reached its 100th release. Here's a spotify playlist from Popjustice with their best track from each release although I would start the argument even with their first choice which should clearly be Double Dutch by Malcolm McLaren
Doing the one task of the year at work that I loathe - very laborious excel stuff, happens every year in late July but it does mean I get to listen to lots of music whilst I work my way through it. I like listening to artists I've not heard before, new artists, obscure/unknown artists or artists I really should know more about.
So today I'm listening to Pearl Jam. Because I really don't know much about them - I don't think I've ever heard one of their albums all the way though. They're great. I recognise loads of their songs.
Vs is brilliant. I love PJ. One of those bands who are even better live, they just did a 3hr show in London last week.
Soundgardens drummer joined them in the late 90's and his playing really changed their music, different dynamic. Riot Act didn't really grab me when it came out but now I think it is one of their best albums
The better half and I thought we'd listen to some Beatles solo stuff last night, so put some Lennon/McCartney/Harrison solo albums on shuffle (sorry Ringo but Vertical Man just didn't make the cut).
What the fuck were the producers thinking letting Yoko Ono near a recording studio? Dear god. There's clearly a good reason why I've never listened to the entirety of John Lennon's back catalogue. Some awesome stuff on some albums but I was astounded how bad some of the tracks were - especially those where Yoko has the lead vocal.
Plastic Ono Band and Imagine are both quality albums mind you.
chuckled at a few other threads where peeps have mentioned things that make them feel old (eg Hennessey being 32 for example), then read that Madonna is turning 60 FFS.
