The Music Thread Strikes Back

Had a pretty good day at All Points East on Saturday. Nice sunny weather, pleasant enough place - horribly corporate but that seems to be festivals all over these days.
Good sets from PSB, Cat Power, Future Islands and The National. Clashes meant I missed War on Drugs and Warpaint but you can't have everything.

bit old hat now, but here's what'll go on the summer cd for mates in case anyone wants some inspiration.
it doesn't sound very cutting edge to me all-in, but i'm not allowed to put too much edgy stuff on them these days.

If only I lived in America. Death Cab For Cutie are playing their Transatlanticism album in full at this weekends Bumbershoot Festival to celebrate it's 10th Anniversary. Not only is it one of my favourite albums of all time, the festival is in Portland, Oregon which is somewhere I'm dying to visit!
Appreciate I'm pulling out a very old post right now, but Death Cab For Cutie have today released tickets for their UK and European tour. My partner is a massive fan and I've got to like them a lot in the last couple of years. Quite surprising more people don't know of them I think. Looking forward to seeing them in Manchester!

The band that nabbed the @dcfc twitter handle before Derby County could get their hands on it.

Blimey, that post of mine was from years ago!

I'm not as big a fan as I was back then but Transatlantism is still one of my favourite ever albums. I'm not as keen on their recent stuff, I haven't heard the latest album and have barely listened to the one before.

Yep I did a search just to see if it had been posted! I've kind of ignored the more recent stuff too, but having only heard the older stuff in the last year I haven't had a chance to fall out of favour with it just yet!

Roger Waters was brilliant last night. I wonder though if that may be the last time we see him, he seemed absolutely knackered by the end.

Spotify throwing up Yohsimi battles the pink robots on random this morning.

Gonna be a great day :)

There was a 2 hour documentary about Eric Clapton on BBC 2 last - absolutely awesome TV.

I saw it as well. It was tremendous. You sort of forget what an absolute mess he was for over a decade.

Those interviews of him when he was a state were harrowing.

I was welling up when they showed the home videos of his little boy. Fuck knows how you'd cope with something like that.

Mogwai have announced a mini tour, and their special guests are Twilight Sad.
They are playing a new Brum venue, so may well check that out. Haven't been to a gig in ages, and don't have any currently lined up.

James have announced 4 dates joint with the charlatans. glasgow, leeds, manchester and london. Bit pissed off to be honest, they did the mini tour up north, and I'm not travelling that far to go see them. They'd better do a down south tour next year or I'll be immensely fucked off.

Chvrches have announced tour dates too, but they're at Brum academy, so they can fuck off. Never going there again.
