The Music Thread Strikes Back

Funnily enough, I finally listened to the winter CD over the weekend, or some of it at least before I was interrupted by bloody family!
On the back of that, I listened to the Dreamwife album on Spotify yesterday. Very good stuff.

that was a good reminder as my order hasn't come and i find one of things on it has sold out meaning the order would just sit there until i amend it.
annoying when you order a special vinyl and then find the fuckers haven't got it, or sold it to someone else presumably.

busy 10 days or so. just catching up

under-appreciated 80's band Felt's back catalogue has been re-released. not sure if it's all the albums as they were originally released on different labels. most people will know primitive painters, won't they? so here's a different one

James release this to support Musicians against Homelessness:
Tim says, “Sit Down is a song about empathy so we are really honoured and happy that this beautiful version, arranged by Joe Duddell, is being used to raise money for the homeless.

“We seem to be living in times of increasing inequality where all the safety nets that my generation took for granted have been taken away.

“I don’t know how a person can hold their life together if they don’t have a home, a cave, someplace safe they can call their own. It is too easy for us to look the other way. Thank you to the kind souls who are running this charitable organisation for not doing so.”

RSD 2018 list out today. Quite uninspiring, however that said after an experience 2-3 years ago I've sworn off it anyway.

I've got the mogwai LP on standard black vinyl, so no need with that. Maybe the Sigur Ros releases would interest me if I could afford them, but actually CBA.
Also, there seems to be a cassette fad going on this year.

Yeah, I saw that. Trouble is, I don't have anything to play a CD on anymore :icon_lol:

I'm not sure it's worth any more than just as a collectors item. I downloaded and bought pretty much every album, single, B-Side, live recording and demo that I could get my hands on up until they left Hut records. I can't imagine there's 35 unreleased tracks that are really worth listening to on top of all that lot, tbh!

Are you digital only now then?
Must admit, when I bought my house, setting up a cd player, amp, sorting my old speakers etc was a joy, and I bought a record player (as my dad nicked my stylus aeons ago and I never replaced it!

Guess the box is more a thing for collectors. Tracklist is on the link, tbh there seems (to me) to be a few repetitions of a couple of tunes.

quite a few things id get from that. did write them up but lost the post.

I don't do RSD as can't be arsed to queue up and it would cost me a lot!

Yep, pretty much all through Sonos - Radio, iTunes library and Spotify. Neither my laptop or chromebook have an optical drive, and we don't have a desktop PC now. We don't even have a cd player in the car! I suppose I could use my PS3 if I was really desperate :icon_lol:

This one looks good..... :-)

Mastodon

Emperor of Sand

‘Take Me I’m Yours’ has that classic Patrick Adams NY Disco/Boogie sound and is a very popular club anthem, being

reissued on 45 for the first time here. Double sided Picture Disc in clear vinyl sleeve with RSD sticker, First Time available in this format

Yep, agree with this. Most stuff is overpriced, but also the queueing and pushing can be too extreme. Tried to get the James Greenpeace Palace concert a few years ago, and it became a ridiculous ballache, and I gave up in the end.

I still have my cd's in the car.
Sonos is a "one day" list for me. Currently I have 1 room that is for music an listening. Obvs it's a pita when I need to leave the room for any reason, as I then can't hear stuff, and have meen meaning to explore something like sonos, but like so many other things, it is a matter of affording it, or hoping it becomes more affordable.

A mate of mine gave me some really good pc speakers a year ago, so I can listen to online stuff sometimes, though hardly use it.

I was thinking more The Boys - limited edition vomit splatter vinyl

the Wire 7" box-set looks interesting. some others id check out - girls names, molly nilsson, nikki sudden, say sue me, ulrika spacek new track, the small faces 7, PF's Piper special, Girls names, the Carter re-release, the warsaw.

You wouldn't lose on the Arcade Fire release either.

didn't think i'd be looking through a list that features king kurt and jesus jones though!

For you lyricists among the forum have a look at @BarristerSecret who is giving his legal views on people's favourite songs. I shot the Sheriff and Delilah are very amusing.

Oh no, my initial post was because they had Mastodon down as some Disco release...made me laugh.
Couldnt care less for Mastodon.
That Wire Box set looks great but i bet its not around after the first hour, i just picked up the original Carter release for £2, saw them loads at the time but never bought their records...its held up well i think.
Always good to see Tv Personalities re-releases too.

james appear to be doing a mini tour, but all the shows are oop north, so am unlikely to get to see them.
They're then doing a load of festival shows, so watch them go and organise a december tour, which is always a pita because of the potential travel issues.
Still they're slowly amending their website & social media, which suggests the album is close.

This, combined with the apparently impending underworld album means there is stuff to look forward to!
