Sol as modest as ever today.
"Macclesfield fans will probably say 'what's going on here?'" he said when asked if his appointment was a gamble.
"You've got an international footballer who has been one of the best footballers in the world coming to your club, I think there's a nice mutual balance there"
For me we've got to get basics right, score right, cross right. The difference between the Premier League and League Two is just margins, decision-making and things like that.
I'm surprised nobody has gone for Nathan Jones yet. A 50% win ratio at Luton Town is nothing to be sniffed at. Championship clubs should be knocking at his door and maybe Soton could get a very good manager if they were to give him a chance.
I floated him as an option to replace Jackett or Zenga a while back, seems to have Luton playing on the front foot all the time and largely getting good results from it, think they struggled a bit early on in League 1 but seem to have more than found their feet now.
They do have a good wage budget so they should've got promoted last season as they were in the top 3 (depending on source) but this season they are out performing that as they should be mid-table and he's got them 3rd.
I like his football too, very attacking.
There was a good piece on the Sky Sports website about him a few years ago that first bought him to my attention, things he'd done to gain experience and attempt to educate himself which built up the way he wanted to coach. After I'd read that I checked out a few Luton highlights and kept a loose eye on them since.
That's him done at Championship level I reckon. 3 big failures in a row.
