The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2018/19

Doherty's comments in the press today have totally outed O'Neill as being a very poor manager and coach. He's surely finished after this.

Yep, he wont get another job, Doc just confirmed what has been intimated for a good while about the whole set up, no preparation at all,for instance seems in the first game v Denmark, O'Neill read out the team without saying who was playing where, Cyrus Christie assumed he was playing left back until as they were about to warm up and O'Neill told him he was playing centre midfield, last time he played there was as a 14 year old.

O'Neill has never been the same as a manager or anywhere near successful since John Robertson retired as his right hand man. Can add Keane as being finished as well for any high profile job, fuck knows what he did except cause aggro and all his speeches about lack of preparation back in 02 sound hollow now with being complicit with this set up.

I thought in Ireland Stephen Kenny would be the fans pick after his success at club level.

Possibly, but there is a fear that there would be a repeat of the Brian Kerr scenario when he was manager, Kerr had won the LOI twice with St Pat's one of the less fashionable clubs, plus then as Ireland Youth Coach an U16 & an U18 European Championship and a 3rd in the World Youth, unbelievable achievements for Ireland.

But when he got the Ireland job meant jack shit, was felt during his management that he never got the respect of the established pros because he had never done it in England.

TBH I would feel the same about Kenny. Proven at an absolute shit level, no more.

I know, that's no way to talk about the second tier of Welsh football.

I was commenting on the Wolverhampton Monday Night 7 aside League but I guess for lolz you have to go lower down the ladder

Sven's odds have tumbled it seems.

I always liked him, he's too old now though really. He'll be 72 by the time the Euros come around.

Mick has been offered the job! :icon_lol:

I love it, but this is ridiculous from the FAI

Isn't it said 'never go back'? - not sure that he can exceed what he did the first time round (though suppose he is looking for a job)

Wish him well, but not sure it's a great career choice.

Macclesfield Town are in talks with former Tottenham and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell about their vacant managerial position. Should be fun.

Bit surprised that McCarthy wants a job he knows he is going to only have 20 months in it, or that they are announcing Kenny will take over come what may in 2020. What if Mick is a sensation? They could have just announced Kenny as the U21 manager and then have judged in the future if he was right for the main job after the Euros.

Perhaps Mick wants it as a last payday with some stability thrown in? After all it's got non of the league club pressure,it's not seven days a week,he goes round watching football to pick players to play every couple of months

Mick confirmed with Ireland until 2020.

TC and Robbie Keane on the coaching team as well

Sol Campbell in at Macclesfield.

Good luck to them. Not that they'll need it with Sol at the helm....
