And routinely beating English sides with those teams. Not sure how you can describe them as 'horse' leagues (not sure what that means) in comparison to the English league which over the last few years has shown less quality than those two leagues.

I can't wait to see him in the Premier League.

Don't think Tredman was inferring that the quality here was better merely that only one or two teams were likely to win those leagues & he managed one of them.

Coming here he will face greater competition (even if at a lower level of quality) as this season has shown

As paddy said, 2-horse

In Spain and Germany he has had by far and away the best teams, and players to a certain extent. He also had a fair few equivalent to training games to rest players and try out new formations. He won't get that in England.

Yes his teams routinely did beat English teams, but they also routinely had better and fresher players.

Spain is currently 3 horse surely with Atletico in the mix for a good few seasons now

And I suppose the fat spanish waiter had Valencia up there for a couple of seasons, although that was prior to Pep.

Atletico would batter the Premier League under Simeone. They're superb.

If Manchester City go on and win all four trophies this season then Pellegrini will leave knowing no-one could better what he has achieved.

Ah yes, of course. Still, my point stands ;)

I'm with Young Wolf's mate. Pep has taken over the two best squads of the last 10 years, sides that had chemistry, success, great players and a winning mentality, in leagues that have very few real competitors for the championship.

Given his record and his trophies, it seems perverse to say it. But he's not achieved anything yet. He's like a competent racing driver that's been given a car that's much better than any others he's racing. All he's done, is not fuck up.

I'm not saying he's not a great manager, or that he's shit. I'm just saying that the jury is very much out.

I think it will be absolutely fascinating to see how he does. He needs to be gutting that Man City defence and binning off Yaya PDQ though.

Agreed with that Paddy. If he can get City playing the kind of football Bayern are capable of, then I'm all for it!

Didn't Pep come into Bayern on the back of a treble?

Pep would just win all four the next season and top it with the world club championship and European super cup.

What he did at Barcelona was pretty incredible. He obviously had a great set of players but they were a bit of a mess under Rijkaard. That is the best team I have ever seen and it was his work

I am certainly not doubting Guardiola's achievements, but he will find the Premier League to be a different animal. In Spain and Germany, the teams he managed were guaranteed at least second place. In England, that will not be the case. And deviating slightly, I wonder how Manchester United will react to this news.

Badly. I think the fans are delighted to be stuck with LVG while City power on ahead with Pep no doubt planning a vast summer spending spree.

The worm may have turned in Manchester. You would think they would go all out to try and get Mourinho the moment they are out of all competitions.

All this 'big spending spree' stuff is rather sickening. They've spent ridiculous amounts of money already. I'd think way more of Pep and City if they actually used some of the young players they have hoovered up and wasted.

City could about to be ready to replace Utd in one thing, the first team I look for to see if they have lost.

I'm interested to see how he deals with the additional fixtures and lack of winter break. Klopp has quickly been very critical of it! I imagine Guardiola will be the same, though it would be a breath of fresh air if someone didn't for once.

Remi Garde apparently considering his position after Villa made no signings
