The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2015/16

Not sure about that. He spent his entire playing career in the Premier League, Champions League and with England. He's never had anything to do with lower league football save for his involvement at Salford City (which in turn is entirely different to Leagues One and Two) so there's nothing to say he'd be of any real use there, or at least it would be as much of a learning experience while on the job as his current role is. He almost certainly played against Valencia more times than he played against Oldham, Rochdale and Bury put together and I bet he's watched more of Valencia and other La Liga clubs in his work as a pundit than any of those three English, Greater Manchester/Lancashire based clubs too.

Fair comments. Why then do you think it has all gone wrong for him?

I think Valencia are a bit of a mess overall, that situation existed before Nev got on board and it'll still be there when he leaves. They spent the thick of a decade deeply mired in debt - they now have two grounds, one they can't afford to finish building and one they can't sell. Lim took them over and sorted out a lot of the cash issues but they're now in thrall to Jorge Mendes and his stable of players, the squad looks really imbalanced and full of players with question marks against them - although you would still think they should be doing better than they currently are. I haven't seen enough of their games to say whether he's got anything wrong in particular on a tactical/selection level but it strikes me as a bit of a hospital pass of a job, but then his brother was already there and he must have consulted with him beforehand to see if it was salvageable. Tough in the middle of a season to pick up a squad that isn't yours and to get your own ideas through, Klopp is finding that at Liverpool, he's a superb manager but no-one can make that defence or keeper any good.

Rotherham United have sacked Neil Redfearn.

That doesn't surprise me - 2 catastrophic results mean they're really up against it now. I don't think the players in our treatment room could lose 1-4 at home to Charlton.

It wouldn't take much to get out the bottom three either for the new manager with MK Dons being the ones to catch.

Redfearn had only been at Rotherham for four months. It sounds like a bit of a panic measure to me.

Their last few results have been absolutely abominable. And they're shipping goals - I think they're hoping a new manager bounce can keep them up.

Derby have sacked Paul Clement

Owner must have been getting itchy. Not going up after spending £25m would be a shocker.

How many championship clubs have parted company with their managers so far this season?

Owner must have been getting itchy.

Very itchy and last season's collapse clearly still a sore point. Quite surprised by that. They have been on a poor run but never thought the trigger would be pulled this early.

Derby
Brentford
QPR
Reading
Leeds
Huddersfield
Blackburn
Fulham
Bristol City
Rotherham x 2
Charlton x 2 (I'm counting Fraeye)

Thanks DW and Paddy. At this rate KJ will soon be the longest serving manager in the championship.

They've appointed Darren Wasall until the end of the season. Now that is a strange one...

Karl Robinson, Mick McCarthy, Sean Dyche, Steve Bruce and Simon Grayson have been in post longer than KJ.

Only Bruce, Dyche, Mick, Grayson and Robinson ahead of him as it stands I think.

Edit: Beaten by Pad. The shame
