Really?

I think he's $#@!, just sticks the big names in and hopes for the best.

That's harsh, he's consistently at the top of the league and the football is pretty good to watch.

It'd be hard not to be around the top of the league with City's money though.

I just don't think he gets anything like enough from what he spends or the players he has available.

The defence is completely reliant on Kompany, they're utterly useless at the back without him, and they're equally exposed at the other end of the pitch when Aguero has his customary 5-10 game lay off. He has managed to get some good midfielders in but then half the time it's like he's picking the names out of a hat and just seeing what happens, De Bruyne and Silva both want the same role, Sterling has gone backwards massively, he loves Navas for some bizarre reason and he's the only person alive at that still think Toure is a viable option in a genuine central midfield role.

For the time and money he's had there I'd expect to see a much more solid squad and less disruption when they get a few injuries, the talent amongst the playing staff covers up a lot there I think, they're often nothing special.

His whole managerial career based on good luck?

I wouldn't say luck but when someone gives you unlimited amounts of money and some ridiculously talented players it makes your job a lot easier, I don't think he's given the owners anything like value for money on what he's spent.

Of course Pep has only ever managed the two biggest clubs in two different leagues, but still, his league record:

P239 W187 D33 L19

Ridiculous. Think that'll be Yaya's days numbered at City, Pep tired of his nonsense very quickly at Barca. Quite a bit needs doing to that squad though for it to work with Pep's football, new full backs on both sides, total overhaul in CM, proper back up to Aguero etc.

Fuck me. That's almost obscene!

Another $#@! result for Neville, will he manage to see out the season at Valencia?

When's the last time an Englishman was successful managing in Spain?

I don't think the Spain part is even relevant, from what I've seen they're just pretty shit, especially at the back.

It was meant seriously, not as a poke.

I don't know when those men were at those posts (though I at least recognize the names).

Bobby Robson would have been after El Tel and Big Ron.

Jon Toshack was pretty successful in Spain but fails the English test.

Insane. Lad on my course just the other day was saying how he didn't think Guardiola "was all that". I wish I'd had that record to show him.

I think he will sign Pogba, but he will need a proper holding midfielder.

That record is based mainly on managing in 2 horse leagues though.

Not to say I don't think he's a great manager, but it will be interesting to see how he gets on in England.

Agree with this, will be interesting to see how he gets on with a bit more competition

Set pieces will be a big thing. He flat out doesn't bother doing any work on defending them as a rule (have a look at how Real destroyed Bayern off dead balls a couple of years ago in the Champions League semi-final), there's clearly no way you can get away with that in the Premier League.

He also won't get away with such tactical onanism as playing Xabi Alonso as one of three centre halves because the level of competition throughout the league is much stronger here - although currently it's very much diluted at the very top compared to Spain/Germany.

And routinely beating English sides with those teams. Not sure how you can describe them as 'horse' leagues (not sure what that means) in comparison to the English league which over the last few years has shown less quality than those two leagues.

I can't wait to see him in the Premier League.

2-horse league!

ie only Real or Barca, or Bayern or Dortmund can win it each year.
