The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Just thinking out the bottom five two will survive after they’ve all been all awful this season, since the PL era began who’s the worse sides to survive in a season? My instant thoughts go to Bradford in 99/00, Albion 04/05 and Hull 08/09

Us in 09/10.

Were we that bad in 09/10. Sure 10/11 before the great capitulation but first season up we finished 15th and weren't dreadful from recollection. Admittedly I only did a handful of games in one of my lean periods so will defer to your judgement.

Looking back that first half performance against Blackburn with everything that was riding on it was a disgrace

Did the job in 09/10 even if the football wasn't pretty, West Ham were worse than us that year and I didn't feel like we deserved to go down. Far worse teams than us that year - Hull and Burnley went down on 30 points!

I thought Wigan were utter rubbish in 2010/11, just had a strong run of form towards the end to keep themselves afloat. Pepe Mel's Albion were dire 13/14. Swansea 16/17 (points total really doesn't tell you how much of a mess they were that year), Huddersfield 17/18, Brighton last season

Stears still as rash as always, very lucky to not concede a penalty.

1-1 clanger by Lossl, too busy staring at an offside Albion player to do his job properly.

Don’t think he’s near enough to be obstructing him really. Poor from keeper anyway

Under VAR that doesn’t stand. Bloke in the eyeline is miles off but so is the scorer.

Nonsense! He's 12 yards away and makes no movement towards the ball at all. He's standing there before they even take the kick.

The goalscorer is offside though.
He doesn't have to play the ball he needs to be in an offside position obstructing the keepers view which he is

If you watch the goalie’s movement, you can see he is expecting the offside player to touch it, then has to readjust when he doesn’t.
