The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Hawk eye have said that the way Nyland fell in the net meant it was unable to achieve a suitable imagine to prove the ball went in.
For starters if something as simple as that means the technology becomes useless then it shouldn’t be in place.

It could be that the keepers arms being wrapped around the ball stopped the cameras from 'seeing' it properly and calculating its position accurately enough.

If either those are true then the system is completely fallible, and needs to be scrapped immediately.

Again if it’s as simple as that the system isn’t fit for purpose. Secondly if something as simple as that can disrupt it it should then be reviewed by VAR.

Then there should be an inconclusive signal and it goes to VAR.

Don't believe that there's 7 different cameras in that goal. It's the 7th season in the PL and has literally never happened before. Refs and linesmen don't even look for that any longer because they trust the system.

Mings again laughing but an awful challenge doesn’t go in the book.

I can accept the tenchnology being disrupted. What I can’t accept is doing nothing about it when there is clear evidence of an error. I mean the linesman probably should have said something wasn’t right as well.

Still doesn't answer why var haven't looked at it. Great for us obviously, but it's an absolute shocker of a situation.

I'll say one thing, this match has reminded me why I usually drink so much when televised matches are on.

That’s apparently Hawk eyes stance, basically saying that technology you’ve got ain’t that great.

The absolute laughable thing about all this is if Sheff utd score a winner that’s offside by a matter mm they’ll get those daft lines out and spend ages trying to disallow the goal.

If Villa stay up by one point I'm gonna be pissed off.

I thought that Villa were ok. Far less open than normal which could be down to the crowd not willing them forward. Didn’t do enough to win the game which is what they’ll need to do if they are to survive.

You can’t get lawsuits for that sort of stuff

More than likely not, but it calls the integrity of the game into question when technology plays such a big part in the modern game. I this case goal line tech is relied upon to get things right, and has been used to give decisions in other matches. Whose to now say that the goals it's given in the past or not, are right if it's failed for the reasons given in an earlier post.

The match at the very least should be replayed for my reasons given in previous posts if the technology has failed.

This is what pisses me off with sky. 10 sports channels and there’s no post match reaction from what they’ve just shown.
