The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Just had a thought, if Man City win the FA Cup and CL they'll have had a much more successful season than Liverpool

No Liverpool fan would agree with you after a 30-year wait for the title.

Besides, Manchester City aren't exactly cast-iron to win the Champions League.

His only issue at RB was he couldn't cross a ball. He had some superb games defensively and got forward really well but then it generally led to nothing. Lost it under Walter though, think he struggled with the way he was used and then didn't get on with Lambert at all
He was awful defending the back post on crosses, always trying to be too clever blocking off his man and trying to let the ball run through rather than just attacking the ball and dealing with it.

I see old #headsgone has got his #hairsback again.

That Aguero goal is offside at the Etihad.

Absolute fucking joke having different rules depending on the stadium the game is in.

Quite nice to look at it and think that was close but have no issue with it being given rather than a bored ref getting the lines out and looking for the offisde for 3 minutes

I struggle to understand the issue with “VAR at set grounds”. Both teams are playing under the same rules and it’s a KO competition.

It's bullshit that it's selectively applied. It's even bigger bullshit that the visiting non PL teams have to pay half the bill...

Because it's ridiculous.

Play the correct rules at every ground. It isn't the lack of a screen as Anfield and Old Trafford don't have those. So I really struggle to understand why they don't say, third round onward (or even earlier ideally) whatever the match, the Stockley Park idiots are looking at it. Either that, or do the game a favour and say Stockley Park aren't looking at any of the games. To have an uneven playing field because of the ground is nonsensical.

It is. If a different rule set is being applied and you see FC Premier League getting a goal against chalked off for a toenail offside, when the linesman in your game has missed a player a yard offside then that is pretty uneven.

That hasn't happened yet, but I hope you see my point.

I see your point but I don’t get the issue with it. If one game has Michael Oliver and the other has Steve Martin that’s uneven. One might ref the game properly, one might be a complete cunt. And the one with Steve Martin probably won’t have VAR to fix his cuntness.

Chris Waddle looked like Grealish's grandad tonight

How far was Krul of his line for the last penalty?

Dier after the game, chasing a bloke who was either giving him stick or racially abusing Gedson depending on which story you read

There’s footage of Dier with the stewards taking the bloke away so it could well have been racism

Shame Leicester and Chelsea against each other. Hopefully Utd, City and Leicester get through because none of those are finishing outside top 7 IMO

Looking like someone was having a pop at his brother so he went to help him.

I thought it was down to the lighting. Premier league grounds had to improve their lighting for VAR if it wasn't already at the standard required ie it needs higher lux levels, in a similar way to how Wolves had to improve the lighting when we were promoted to meet the Premier league requirement.

No excuse obviously, just don't have it throughout, if you can't have VAR at Halesowen Town for example, then you shouldn't have it in at all is my view.

One of the great goals from Lingard. Cowering out of the way of Shaw having a shot, hits his back and loops over the keeper.
