The January 2025 Transfer Thread

I want to know why Forbs is good enough to go back to Dutch giants, Ajax - and too shit to get any game time for even-shittier Wolves?

Blaming the squad size when they don’t want to send back a player that they have no need for?
I see it’s Villa’s turn to further unsettle Cunha this week ahead of playing against us.

Sell Dhuran for £65m, buy Cunha for £50m. Cunha scores for Villa in both legs of a Champions League quarter final around the time that we get 4 points from Everton, Saints, West Ham and Ipswich. Happy days, mind the gap

By chance we get offered a “Get out of jail free” card for Forbs and throw it away. On a par with turning down £20m+ for Hwang. No doubt Hobbs has it in mind he’ll smash it in the Championship next year - he won’t.

Selling Neto for a huge sum and replacing him with a player who struggles to get on the pitch and if he does its for the last 5 minutes doesn’t annoy you? Knowing that he isn’t fit for purpose and passing on the unexpected chance to send him back early doesn’t bother you either?
I’ll reserve the right to be furious about all of our transfer blunders thanks. 😉

Of all the things to be annoyed about, keeping Forbs isn't too high on my list to be honest.

And I'm usually furious with everything :)
I think it's more the sheer incompetence of the whole thing. We've tracked him for years (their words, not mine), he's signed to be the "Neto replacement", but quickly deemed not good enough by both managers that have had him. And let's be honest, he hasn't been great on the eye test either - so what exactly did the recruitment/scouting team see in him?

We then have an opportunity to get out of that, by sending him back to Ajax (who need him) - the players happy with this. But instead of that happening, it appears we're going to end up keeping him because "we don't have time to source a replacement". All the while, we've been told the recruitment/scouting network/team within the club are "fully prepared" and "have targets in mind" from day one of the transfer window.

They're a bunch of incompetent mugs. We're genuinely a clown show.

Exactly. It’s not that I’m bothered about Forbs, more that it just highlights how incompetent we are. The evidence that he’s got no part to play this season is overwhelming. If we took a lucky dip on a winger from a random Championship club they couldn’t be any worse. The thought we could end up paying 8 figures for him if we have an injury crisis makes the ST prices an even bigger joke.

Fair.

All I would say is I'd rather have him here than gone with no replacement.

Although presumably we won't play him due to the clause anyway :ROFLMAO:

You're right. I'm fuming!

I feel like I need a scarlet F to wear around as penance for defending these absolute clowns for so long. The fuck was I thinking

Just had a look at what Noha Lemina is up to, he's played 30 minutes total for FC Annecy in Ligue 2 this season.....
