The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Not expensive ones
I present to you..

I need this defender...oh unlucky his fee has gone above £15m

I need this keeper...oh unlucky the fee has gone above £15m

Here, have a near £25m midfielder who is good but not really what you want

We do need another wide forward though, as all of Sarabia, Hwang and Forbs (seemingly) aren't fit for purpose.
A lot of things are not fit for purpose but some are more urgent than others to fix. Wide forward is low on the list really

True but we all know if a player comes up for the right price we want then we usually buy them regardless.

Plus as has been said many times before, you can't try and sign players in a specific order. You get them in as and when they're available or you miss out.

Our need for a CH is the equivalent of having just Bentley available in goal. In that situation we’d get a keeper in straight away and worry about other signings later.

The order in which they come in doesn't necessarily equal the order in which we we want them

Can't be an order of preference if there are no signings coming in..

We will have a finite budget in January - all of it should be spent on the defence - at a push a midfield player if Lemina leaves.

A wide forward would be nice in an ideal world but as we have 2 of our front 3 on 7 and 10 league goals (on course for 12-15 each,) we can get by with one of 3 options for the other position. The defence on the other hand is a just a complete disaster area.

Be beyond disappointed if Cunha left in Jan. His contributions are about the only thing keeping us afloat, otherwise we would probably be about level with Southampton. Feels like there is a somewhat artificial pile-on against Cunha from yesterday. Does the club expect him to leave?

This might be complete tosh, but I think he wants out, the club know that the fans will go ballistic and it'll lead to almost certain relegation, so are preparing the ground via the manager and the e&s.

Another case of player power and a player having his head turned by rumours that a bigger club is interested in him. Sooner this Januiary window closes and we can settle down, the better. Those that aren't all pulling in the same direction can fuck off. That said, our new coach needs to do some real team building. I don't know what is done these days but Nuno very much had a team ethos of everyone sitting together at meals, arranging evenings out, etc. Seems to me we don't have many natural leaders pulling things together and at this stage of the season, it shows.
