The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Romano being used by agents to engineer price hikes? Tbh if he wanted to go to Benfica not much we can do. I really don't want anyone here who wants ro be somewhere else.
Still leaves us in the shit though.

Annoying but probably not a game changer, another CH on the other hand…

The problem is we are fishing in a pool of signings that cost 10-20m and that doesn't get you all that much in general at this level, before anyone says it there are exceptions and you can unearth some good players in that range with good scouting and recruitment setups but we don't have that. Players that are going to come in and make an appreciable difference to this team immediately, as a rule of thumb, cost more than that. It's going to be a coin flip between us and Ipswich until the end.

The age old problem of attracting players when you’re in grave danger of relegation.
Makes perfect sense for the player to go to Benfica, stays in a league he knows, wins trophies and plays in Europe.
Comes here new league, new environment, no Europe possible relegation so could mean moving again in July. Plus nicer weather in Portugal too.

apart from the rain and cold...

The positive if true, at least they recognise they need to do something. The negative, he's done

I know he's past his best but he's exactly the type of player we need. Against Forest and last night I thought it was stark how much smaller, weaker and less 'up for it' we are compared to our rivals. We need a few more 'nasty' players, we need to be harder to play against.

The other issue is that we have 3/4 players in any given match squad who are a complete disgrace and shouldn't be anywhere near this level. Carlos is competent in a position which should limit game time for some of those players between now and the end of the season.

Toti - Carlos - Agbadou

Absolute shite obviously but you've at least got a semi solid foundation rather than the pile of sand our team is currently built on.
