The January 2025 Transfer Thread

I think we need 2 CBs in January, I expect us to only sign one however.

Realistically, do you think we need anything else apart from central reinforcements

We need two defensive players for sure; if VP primarily wanted to play 4 at the back then a CB and LB, if 3 at the back then two CBs with his preferred profiles.

That would do it for me and be realistic. He should be able to get enough of a tune out of midfield and our forward line, especially if Guedes continues to be a decent option and he can bring one of the young lads on a bit

Will be 5 minimum I’d imagine. FA done us a favour delaying their decision tbf
Personally I think 5 is harsh, no security men were harmed in the incident and it was a pressure cooker situation. Also who knows what happened in the lead up to it, maybe some mitigating factors?

Don’t think we can.

I think Cunha will get 5 game ban like Kudus. Weird how long they have waited though
There’s obviously some kind of process with these charges that takes a while. It’s been a couple of weeks at least for the others like Kudus to actually get the ban as well. Plus Christmas so there’s probably no one working to get it sorted.

We could really do with another forward option imo as well as the obvious centre back needs. Guedes unbelievably is our best option out on the right atm but he’s not very good. If we could dump Bellegarde on someone and sign a better option there it’d be ideal.

Maybe wolves have sited the soft head butt on Kilman as precedence!
Why would that be more important 😉?

As for the charge it's misconduct not violent conduct, that's why it's taking longer and the range of options ban wise are bigger. It took 2 months from charge to decision on Bentancur, although I don't expect it to be that long. Hopefully it's before the cup game so that becomes 1 of them, you've got the elbow to the back of the head and then the hand to the face and the glasses. It'll be more than 3 imo and there aren't any acceptable mitigating factors as nobody from Ipswich has been charged which would have happened if something racist for example had been alleged.

I'd still sign a keeper, too much recency bias with Sa. He'll still do stupid things, he'll still let in clangers, that's who he is. After spending £10m in the Summer I don't expect one though.

He's playing the same formation as he did in Saudi, so Im assuming that's his preference so definitely 2 chs, Doc is a nice story, but let's not work on it being anything other than a short term fix that's worked out and Toti is Toti. Not convinced by Bueno still slow and not physical enough for me, but signing 3 isn't really plausible, I doubt we'll get the 2.

Sell Hwang to wherever £15m still is and bring in another inside forward option to replace him. I'd also be looking at how concrete the purchase guarantee on Forbs is, if there's a get out somewhere I'd be using it. Doesn't suit the formation and not worth the money, although I think we are probably not going to find one.

Defence aside the issue this season was always more about who was setting them up than the players themselves.

With Meupiyou and Yerson in the squad, I’ll be stunned if we bring in more than one CB even if one of those is a child and the other crocked

Thought he was really good last night, didn't really have any goal scoring chances or assists but carried the ball well, passed it at the right time and worked hard off the ball.
And one us countless free kicks by intelligent use of his body and protection of the ball.

He IS a good player, he's just generally had a piss poor attitude for most of his career, when is attitude is right he has some real quality.

We were talking about that on the way home from the match, what's brought on this sudden change of attitude? it started under GON and seems to have improved more since Vitors arrival. Is he happy to play here or is he trying to put himself in the shop window? Looks a completely different player and character from 12 months ago.
