The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Commander Cody?? Obi-wan’s homie from the Clone Wars??

Finally, a transfer I can back with my entire soul.

I'm not against Coady returning but he'd only be a back up surely. If it happens may as well ship Bueno out.

I must be a bit weird, because rather than the excitement that you lot have I'm just sat here wondering what the fuck. Is it just a short term move to have him in the middle of Agbadou and Djigger? Or just to cheer the dressing room up a bit? Can't we just buy good footballers?

Just having him in the dressing would be a massive improvement and would give some much needed leadership.
Sounds daft but just think he’ll feel more at home back here to.

The alchemy of a team can be a weird thing though and sometimes shit like this just works

Coady is a better option than Doherty, Bueno and Dawson. We've clearly got a few problems behind the scenes and not enough natural leaders in the squad either. I think there are a lot of positives to this.

I also bloody love Conor Coady - and there are too many players at Wolves who I really don't like.

Bit of everything isn't it

- Someone to direct the defence
- Proper vocal leadership
- Huge presence off the pitch
- Lifts 99% of the fans mood
- Social Media team finally have some fun with his announcement

Dawson is teetering on the edge of falling off a cliff performance wise. Coady will be much better backup than Dawson and is still only 31. Plus he'll be good for the dressing room.

I’m getting Mike Brearley vibes.

Last time we were in this mess part of how we survived was guys like Neves who still cared about the club dragging us to safety. That Midweek game against Palace where he scored a penalty, you could see how much it meant to him. Coady might not be perfect, he wasn't even when he was at his best for us, but one thing you can guarantee is that he loves the club and will give everything to keep us up.

He'd suit the formation as well, stick him in the middle where he doesn't have to defend large spaces with 2 of Agba, Toti or Djiga next to him and he should be fine.

He's only 31 as well so should have a few more years in him. Dawson is done. I wouldn't want him in the Championship now.
