I've never understood this mindset, it's defeatest.

We're more than likely to lose Neto and maybe RAN and if we're really unfortunate Gomes.

That's not only a striker but first choice winger, LB and CM to replace too.

And we will still be fed the line we need to not spend, because with the current owners that's exactly what is going to happen.

Just for parity we got Gomes, Dawson, Cunha and Sarabia in last January.

It's not impossible to get players in of real quality at any time.

Also gives the new signings half a season to acclimatise. Look at the difference in cunha, sarabia, even Gomes to an extent. Aware there’s other factors (management change, different style etc) but still would’ve been useful.

Very likely the rules will be very different by then, seems that privately they've conceded they're currently a mix of outdated and counter-intuitive.

This assumes the refusal to spend is *actually* only about FFP / PSR

(and, in any event, the club will argue it's better for FFP / PSR to get cheaper deals in the summer than to overspend now)

EDIT (and, as Deutsch says, the clubs will vote in something different before long, having realised that "the other 14" are all completely hamstrung by the current PSR rules)

All people are asking for is the club to do the same again, cover the positions we will have players sent out on loan (so a CB if Mosquera is leaving, a forward to cover the 2 we've loaned away).

Being fine with squad "as is" to me is a weird take, it's in worse a state than going into January. You'd hope they're paying the fitness and medical staff top dollar.

For me, the bottom line is that one more forward almost certainly won't be the difference between staying up and relegation. It's been clear, almost from the moment Julen left, that staying up is the prime directive for the entire club this season.

It's a big "if", but if this dry spell allows us more flexibility in the future, so be it.

Obviously YMMV on the above, and for many it's already a non-starter of a thought. Which is fair.
