The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

This is my optimistic (sorry) thought, too.

Probably not a good spot for a teenage winger.

Yep utter turmoil for a while plus takeover, think Pirlo is under a lot of result pressure to from Radrazzini (ex Leeds)

It might be a favour to Mario, considering both men have just lost their father.

Both men get the support they need and Noha is only 18 so may need all the support he can get.
This seems likely. The fact he’s extremely highly rated is a bonus.

Fair point. I guess we’re not talking big money I wouldn’t imagine

Not meaning to sound insensitive, Ofcourse.

If we're bringing Noha in for family reasons I fully support it, although I admit I'm suspicious that a football club would do something like that purely out of the goodness of their hearts.

I have to think the scouts have seen something there to go with the warm fuzzies.

Times moved on, if that even was there aim to begin with it was a bit of a stretch IMO. But they’ve flipped and flopped on plans haven’t they.
Clearly, though I don't think that invalidates my original accusation.

It was said last summer we would have to wait until next summer before the cheque book was opened again, this is just reiterating that.
Whether that does actually happen though...

I think the summer will hugely depend on who leaves. We could conceivably sell Hwang, RAN and Neto for massive money which - based on what happened with Nunes - would be reinvested. If they all stay then I doubt we’ll spend much but we don’t need to do loads really in that scenario.

Yes and no. That was before the Nunes sale. All the noise post that was about signing a centre forward, essentially to get the player the Dia bid failed with. Now we still might, but there's a consistent change of tone from the Wolves only media which presumably is coming from the top.

I think we'd fend off bids for Hwang and RAN. Neto I can see leaving if a club bids enough and he stays fit until the end of the season. Neither of which are a given.

Loads depends on the ambition I suppose. We need a centre half, a centre forward, another attacking option and a right wing back, before departures imo if we wanted to challenge for 7th, less obviously if 17th remains the target which it probably will.

Well we know there’s room in the budget to sign a forward. Sasa won’t leave until we get one though with Fabio already gone.

Be interesting to see where we are at in the summer tbf, if we’ve improved enough and players like Bueno/Bellegarde start to look like actual options the squad will look a lot healthier with some clear areas to try and “upgrade” in. Plus depends on who we sell/keep hold of.

This whole "winter window is more expensive/difficult" line is bollocks. At our end of the market, if they're attainable and affordable in July, they're attainable and affordable in January, whether they're in the team at their current club or not, the level of resistance won't change and nor will the price, save for the occassions where you're throwing money at staying up/Europe.

Of course it's more difficult.

There was an extremely strong case for us accepting a £30m bid for Kilman in June/July, if an identical bid came in tomorrow then even as someone on the sceptical end of judging his abilities I'm not sure it'd be the right thing to do. But I'd have the money without hesitation this June.

But we're not nabbing Premier League first team players though, we're either pinching from smaller leagues or getting other teams' filler.

Ok, well look at our "filler" in Sasa who hasn't even played a minute since Forest at home almost a month ago.

We won't let him go until we sign another striker.

Fab reckons Arsenal want Neto, but they suspect a move for him is more likely in the summer.
