The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

Then now we lose out on 6 months of Fraser's development because he has to sit on the bench getting 10 minutes here and there for the rest of the season rather than going on loan and playing first team mens football for the first time in his career and being more of an option for next year.

It is just poor squad management.

This is something I could get more on board with if we hadn't sent two forward options out on loan at the beginning of the window, on the hope and prayer that we might be able to do some business later on.
And were openly looking to sign one at the end of the last window. The failure is in the lack of recruitment though rather than letting those players go. GON would start any of Cunha, Neto, Hwang or Bellegarde down the middle rather than either of them. We'd need 3 players out before Sasa or Fabio would have got meaningful game time. He just wasn't going to use them.

I think I saw a stat earlier today that said 8 PL teams haven't brought anyone in during this window, and only 6 have made a permanent signing. I'm assuming we're not one of the 8 after signing Noha Lemina yesterday.

I don't mean this as an excuse for our lack of activity, but with clubs being overly cautious now, the January window is getting increasingly difficult to do any meaningful business - it's not just Wolves being hesitant/cautious.
This is just rubbish Langers.

Other clubs have their own issues which we should be taking advantage of, we alleviated ours in the summer. It's a choice to operate on nothing at this point.

So excusing the club FFS.

"I don't mean this as an excuse for our lack of activity"

"YOU'RE MAKING EXCUSES FOR THE CLUB!!!!!"

It was actually an observation of the window across the league, but you do you :ROFLMAO:

Reads like an excuse to me.

I would rather excuse the club for spending fuck all than clapping like a demented seal in welcoming a vastly over priced Broja.

You would hope there was another option in the middle somewhere but I doubt it.

I think you have to look in conjunction with the Summer. For example Bournemouth haven't signed anyone this window to date but spent about £110m in the Summer. Many clubs aren't spending because they've already used their budgets up. PL spend in the Summer was a record 2.36b

A lot of clubs are shitting themselves about sanctions. We sorted our risk in August at the very latest.

Fair point. We should have done more in the summer, and we'll have to spend more this coming summer. Even more so if we do indeed fail to bring anyone in today.

But it's not an excuse to say that deals appear to be much harder to do in January as it isn't just us who have failed to do the deals we wanted.

Not in the league we haven't.

Even the manager has said we need a 9.
I didn't say "sign no-one ever" did I? I said I'd rather not sign an overpriced useless lump whose parent club are demanding he gets regular game time, to disrupt a front 3/4 that have us on pace to score a record number of PL goals for Wolves. I don't even see how anyone would argue against that.

Fosun and Shi constantly gamble with the club and the strategy, there is no coherence.

Luckily for them Lopetgui paid off and so has GON for now.

We were a Michael Beale turning us down away from relegation last season, because had he said yes we would be in the Championship now, there are only so many times they can keep doing this and us not suffer any consequences.

I'm not holding them up as any model, I doubt anybody did for Forest or Everton either. Just saying they hadn't done any business this window because they'd spent their money in the Summer and now they have, they've moved it into next season. We on the face of things don't seem prepared to do that or at least can't find a partner who will.

I’m pretty sure some fans of other clubs will say “we should look at Wolves have done”
