The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

There was a woman on Twitter who reckons he was sitting in front of her on the train from Paris to Birmingham.

Can you rail in?
I call bullshit. At least two different trains from Paris to Brum.

Gonna see if I can work out who else is on The Bear's ignore list...
Tbh I've only just realised why it was a bad joke now after reading it back. I just thought Noah, two Leminas, the well known rhyme, and didn't think about what that implied. Totally unintentional.

Apologies everyone.

We’ve rejected a loan offer from Celtic for Hugo Bueno.

We do this a lot don't we, release a couple of transfer efforts to the press late on in the window to make it look like we were trying.

But in reality they were non-starters.

Unfortunately for Gary it looks like he has bought into the bullshit and hasn't realise yet.

Wolves pull out of deal to sign Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto. Agreement in principle for 22yo Brazil int’l to join (loan + buy option) but broke down on issues over finances involved + 11th-hour request by agents for extra money @TheAthleticFC #WWFC

Wasn't the Gomes deal in doubt after they upped the price at the last minute? Either the club or agents.

Agents demanding what they want annoys me no end. They should get a set capped fee plus a percentage of the players annual salary as a one off payment and no more.

The thing is, O'Neil will only be a yes man for so long based on current trajectory. He's building a decent amount of credit and standing in the league and I don't think Shi has priced that in. Your yes man model is typically either an over promoted charlatan (Lage) or is inexperienced but gains the tools and know how to eventually see you for the inept chancer you are.

If the second half of the season is a continuation of the first then we'd have done a 180 on it and losing O'Neil becomes as damaging as keeping Lage.

Rather predictably, we’ve gone back in “overnight” for Broja, according to Ornstein.

Chelsea are now happy to send him out on loan with a “significant fee” and the assurance of “game time”.

I really hope we don’t pay a massive fee just to get him on loan. Plus I don’t see how we can guarantee him game time here?

Seems more likely he’ll either stay put or go to Fulham.

@Johnny75 was right when he said Broja would be one of the two Gaz was on about in his presser yesterday.
